    Load shedding a heat pump

We had a whole house standby generator installed. It has some isolation relays built into the automatic transfer switch (Generac 200amp ATS). These are 24 volt wiring meant to break a connection on an A/C unit when the generator is stressed. I believe this is doable on our pool heat pump...

Heavy rain flooded pool with dirt

Appreciate everyone's help. I ordered a vacuum setup which will be here Thursday. I'm going to constantly run my pool robot until then and switch out the DE a couple times a day. Sounds like I just need to work at it constantly. I don't plan to use any flocculants. Again, many thanks!

Heavy rain flooded pool with dirt

I don't have a vacuum, I only have a pool robot which I have been running all day today and washing the filter every 30 minutes to get anything at the bottom. I don't have a trash pump unfortunately. I can vacuum to waste though. I might have to invest in a vacuum then. Is there an additive...

Heavy rain flooded pool with dirt

Not sure this is the place for this. I have never had this happen before. But last night it rains many inches very quickly and flooded an area around the pool, the patio drain got plugged up and a lot of dirt ended up in the pool. I have a DE filter and have switched the DE out twice today...

Adding a gas heater to a heat pump setup

Good point, I will check that out. Does it matter if that window is a garage window?

Adding a gas heater to a heat pump setup

Yes, I need rapid heating. Best of both worlds is that I have the ability to heat up quickly. Or run the heat pump to maintain temp when the temp is appropriate more efficiently. Our weather can be 50-60 degrees for 3 or 4 days during the week, then 80 degrees on the weekend during spring and...

Adding a gas heater to a heat pump setup

Hello, I'd like to add a gas heater into our current heat pump setup. With the climate in central new york it would allow me to have the best of both worlds. Use the gas in the spring and fall, heat pump in the mid-summer to maintain. My idea would to use one or the other and change the...

Water starting to get cloudy again after SLAM

Great advice. I suppose I never thought about the cycle of FC given night, sun, bathers, and the SWG. Thanks to all!

Water starting to get cloudy again after SLAM

I'm confident in the CYA level. I am using the TF-100 kit and it is less than one year old. I believe what may of happened is that it dropped for a couple days under the 8ppm target for non-SWG. I didn't turn the SWG back on until it was around 5ppm. I'm going to target a little higher going...

Water starting to get cloudy again after SLAM

With SWG the target is 4-5ppm.

Water starting to get cloudy again after SLAM

Hello, 2nd year pool owner. Last year I didn't really have any clarity issues. I was riding a week or 2 a little low on FC (didn't have SWG adjusted correctly). Then on 6/2/18 I noticed it was VERY cloudy, couldn't see deep end bottom. I brought FC up to 22ppm for the day and replaced the...

Backwash hoses for 2 1/4" pipe

New to pools, learning as fast as I can. We have had a lot of rain lately and the skimmer is underwater. I'd like to drain some of the pool and from what I have read I can use the waste connection on the back of my filter to drain water directly from the drains. Problem is that it is a 2 1/4"...

New owner - White sandy substance (calcium)?

Hello! New pool owner here, been a month of research for sure. My problem is that I started noticing large amount of this white "sandy" substance being picked up by the pool robot. After further investigation with goggles I can pick it up out of the pool with my hand in the "seating" area...
