@JamesW I never found a sulfate test but I did do the Taylor phosphate test. I did a few times to confirm consistency. I get 2000 ppb for the pool water and 500 ppb for my tap water. Is that bad? Potentially the issue? Thanks.

Do you still recommend the phosphate and sulfate test? I assume the Taylor K-1106 is best for phosphates. What do you recommend for sulfate testing?

The bypass seems to be ok. It is just a spring on a guide rod and it seems to require a fair bit of pressure to open up.

Yes. All last year I had a control system that turns off the heater a half hour before the pump shuts off for the night. It also doesn't turn the heater on unless the pump has been running for a half hour. Here is a picture of my equipment if that may be helpful. Thanks for your help.

No. I just checked again and the filter is pure white. When I shut the pump off the heater shuts off too and it made some noise. When I turned the pump back on out came a couple dozen of the blue flakes out the returns.

That is what I have been losing and I am in Michigan as well. I wish my pool was at 77!!! If I put the solar cover on then I only lose about 0.5 FC per day FYI. Something you may want to consider if you are trying to reduce FC loss.

We just got the pool blaster max and are very happy with it. We add a skimmer sock into the filter bag so it captures the fine sand that used to slip right by. No more hose connection in the skimmer to deal with. My first post. Thanks to all the awesome supporters and help on this site!!!
