Salt reading changing with temp of water.

Since it got a little colder the water temp went down and my chlorine reading is up from 8.5 to 10.5 so its working great. I might turn it down a tad. I also upped my TA, it was at 50, now at 80 and I also added stabilizer which was at 50 so I wanted it a little higher. Guess I won't worry...

Salt reading changing with temp of water.

My water chemistry is fine, water crystal clear and no CC. My pool is 25,000 and I run it around 12 hrs a day. Takes 9 1/2 hrs to turn water over once. I don't know what an OCLT is. Ok went back and looked, I see what the test is. I'll run that and see if I am losing any chlorine but I don't...

Salt reading changing with temp of water.

No, cell size the same. I went from Goldline and when I ordered online they sent me SwimPure Plus. I think Hayward made both but not sure. Both were the 40,000 gallon cell size, and yes, the higher the temperature of the water the lower the salinity reading goes. I know this is the average...

Salt reading changing with temp of water.

I have a new SWG, installed last year. I noticed that the higher the temperature of the water goes, the lower the reading of the salt level goes. I called the Manufacturer and they said this is normal. I had another one for over 9 yrs before replacing this one and I don't remember it doing...

Hayward Instructions for Higher Chlorine Output

Wow, yes it is. I live right off Centralia Rd. I don't use a solar cover but I do have full sun. I'm going to do a water analysis later on and see if my chlorine level has gone up since it hasn't been too too sunny or hot. I just find this Swimpure Plus isn't as strong a unit as my old...

    Hayward Swimpure Plus

It does sound like the button is broken, it should go through the items like salt level, temp, % etc. I don't really know how you would reset. I'm sure you have turned the unit on and off but other than that you could call Hayward. They might can give you some info. Good luck.

Hayward Instructions for Higher Chlorine Output

That is why I called. I feel I shouldn't have to run it at 60 %. I think maybe these new cells aren't built like they were years back. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if they are using inferior products. Its almost the end of the season for us here in Va. but will keep an eye on it next year...

Hayward Instructions for Higher Chlorine Output

Just had to post this. I have a new SwimPure Plus 15 that we installed in July of this year. It replaced an Aquarite, which lasted 9 seasons. I couldn't have asked for a better product, never had to fix anything and only last year cell started to fail. My salt was a little high so I emptied...

    Replacing my SWCG -any suggestions

I had an Aquarite for 9 yrs. Just replaced it and they sent me a SwimPure which supposedly is the same thing. Hope this one lasts as long as the old one did. Had zero problems the whole 9 seasons I used it. The unit started showing low salt last year but only accelerated this year. I would...

Watch out with those salt test strips!

I also was getting way low readings on the salt strips. When I watched the UTube video I saw you are only supposed to put the strip in an inch of water. It doesn't state this on the bottle so I was immersing the whole strip in a cup full of pool water. When I did it this way I got a much...

Types or SWG's and user opinions (perhaps a sticky here?)

Re: Types or SWG's and user opinions (perhaps a sticky here? I love my Hayward SWG. I haven't shocked in 3 yrs. I was relying on the Pool Store and they had me adding so much junk my water was a mess. Took two seasons to get the CH and CYA levels down and now my water is perfectly balanced...

    help!

Listen to these experts, they know of what they speak. My pool would be cloudy all summer and never felt "quite right." I discovered this site and have never looked back. The pool store numbers were so off from my own test kit numbers it is unbelievable. I still have high stabilizer and...

    Electrical Not Included

When I had my pool vinyl inground pool built 20 years ago electrical was not included so it probably is standard practice. They can usually give you a list of electrical contractors they use or if you have one of your own you are good to go!!! Good luck.

When do you close your pool?

I'm in Central Va. and we close around the 3rd week of Sept. give or take. Night temps get too cold and I don't like the water below 82 degrees.

    My testing recommendation

I couldn't agree with you more. I am ashamed to admit I have been pool-stored for over 25 years  I cannot thank this site enough and feel so in control now. If you haven't bought the thingy that swirls your water for you, you should definitely buy it, it makes the test completely...

I can't believe after having a pool for 25+ yrs. how much the pool store has bamboozled me!!!!!!!! After having a problem this year with no free chlorine in my SWG IG pool I stumbled across this forum and now there is no looking back. I can't believe the discrepancy in the pool stores numbers...
