    Confused by pump size calculation

My pool passed the OCLT test Friday night - pool looks great. Pool was crystal clear - until: As I do every Sunday, I opened the strainer basket at the pump to check and clean it if necessary. I turned off the pump and opened the strainer basket. I did not touch the new filter. As I inspected...

    Confused by pump size calculation

New filter arrived last Friday - installed everything on Sunday - so far so good! I started it up Monday at 6am and am doing a SLAM process. Based on how my water looked and openings in past years it's clearing up very quickly. I can see my vacuum's hazy outline at the bottom of the deep end...

    Confused by pump size calculation

Ahhh - didn't think about the pressure when opening the pump lid (not an issue with my current filter) - ordering the valve right now. Thanks again.

    Confused by pump size calculation

I'm wondering if it would make sense to install this while I'm doing the plumbing next week: https://smile.amazon.com/Pentair-263037-3-Way-outside-Diverter/dp/B002FQJ2ZG/ I'd use it to vacuum to waste when I open the pool in the spring. Also - there have been times after heavy rains when I've...

    Confused by pump size calculation

Good to know. I have a 'normal' gauge on my sand filter and 'clean' is 15 or 16 lbs. Thanks for the heads up. I ordered the filter today - delivery is scheduled for the 9th.

    Confused by pump size calculation

lol - Mostly because of analysis paralysis - too much research. I got hung up on looking at the the new variable speed pumps and tried to figure out how to use the pump size calculator here. I totally confused myself. Thank you for your quick answer!!

    Confused by pump size calculation

Hello - I just can't get my head around the pump sizing info on the site here. I'm ready to order a Pentair CCP520 cartridge filter (520 sq. ft.) , but I don't want to attach it to the wrong pump. If my current pump will work with it that would be great, if not I'll get a new one. I have a 16 x...

Looking for advice on filter/pump combination

I'm on the verge of 'upgrading' my filter to a cartridge type - the Pentair CCP520. It seems my current pump will work with it. For the same reasons I'm nervous about removing the multiport valve to check my sand I'm leery of attempting this on my own. Did they leave me with enough room/pipe to...

Looking for advice on filter/pump combination

Thanks again. I've been using what is likely the original app on an old ios device since joining here over 10 years ago. It tells me SLAM is 18. When you mentioned my log I checked for a new version of the app and installed it a few minutes ago on my Android device. I see there it says SLAM...

Looking for advice on filter/pump combination

@Texas Splash - Thanks for your quick reply! I kinda like the idea of not having to vac to waste and/or backwash - hence the reason for a cartridge filter. I really dislike pumping out what I put in my water - salt and chemicals. As for chemicals - I've been a religious BBB/TFP follower for...

Looking for advice on filter/pump combination

I'm thinking it's the filter because the DE seemed to help - but it's really slow going. I know I could check the sand filter and repair/recharge it, but I've always wanted a better one anyway. Am I crazy?

Looking for advice on filter/pump combination

My pool opens to green every spring. (I have a mesh cover.) I usually SLAM it for about a week (been here at TFP for years) and all is okay, but this year it's been 10 days as of today and very little progress. Three days ago I started adding DE to my filter and it's helped a little. To try and...

Thank you for your quick and informative response. Looks like neither chemical will adversely affect my SWG then.

Just had SWG installed and have a couple of questions

I've always had a metal problem that Metal Magic will take care of most of the time for me. I usually have to treat the pool once a year or so, and I do a monthly maintenance according to the directions on the bottle. It has always worked great for me. With the addition of a new SWG (never...

Which model - and can I make it fit?

Would this do the trick for me? (Up and back down) https://www.discountsaltpool.com/circupool-edge-hayward-pentair-cell-adapter-kit

Which model - and can I make it fit?

@DeanP66 Having all those additional turns (at least 4) is okay for water flow? As for the model, it looks like the RJ-45, CORE-55 or the Edge 40 will be the correct size for me.

Which model - and can I make it fit?

Thank you for your quick reply - I'll head over to their website and post here what I think I'll need. Glad to learn I can make it work in that small space.

Which model - and can I make it fit?

Been a while since I've posted - the TFP method is so easy for me I haven't had to! I'd like to change to salt. Would the CircuPool RJ-30 PLUS or CORE-35 make sense for me? Or something else? (See my sig.) Also - with the 11" or 12" inch rule - I may not have the space. Please see my...

    Ferri-Tabs & Slime Bag Experiment & Review

The stains I described back then have not come back anywhere near as bad. They seem to begin to show every once in a while so I use Metal Magic regularly according to the instructions on the bottle and that controls it. It must be keeping what ever metal I have sequestered for me., Oh, and I'm...

    Ferri-Tabs & Slime Bag Experiment & Review

By the way, I add my chlorine about an hour before my filter shuts off in the evening. I run the filter from 8:00am to 7:00pm daily. My thinking is that my FC is at 6 all night and then drops slowly in the sun all day until I add more the next evening. My FC does not move over night, so it's...

    Ferri-Tabs & Slime Bag Experiment & Review

^^^ The stain started to come back once since my last post here so I dumped 20 oz. of ProTeam's Metal Magic in the pool and it went away over night. I've also put 3 Ferri-Tabs in the skimmer once a week since my last post. I'll continue to do that until the Tabs are gone. My water and liner...

    AA treatment - First timer

:hammer: Sorry - I shouldn't have assumed - hope I didn't cause any confusion. I know you know what it is, but to end any possible confusion on my part  , here's the 'tool' in the TF-100 to test PH:

    AA treatment - First timer

Your question tells me you probably don't have the TF-100 Test Kit available here: http://tftestkits.net/TF-100-Test-Kit-p4.html Best investment for the pool I've ever made, and highly recommended by most everyone here.

    AA treatment - First timer

A PH of 7.2 is good, and some say 7.1 is OK too. I have metal issues as well, so I try to never let my PH get above 7.2.
