    Conversion

Hi....question on totally draining....should you 'brush' the sides and bottom after the draining and before refilling? If so, what should you use?

    Changing over

Congratulations......I'm just checking in after finishing opening our pool. We converted last year from Bauqcuil to Chlorine....it was a nightmare, BUT so thankful. After the cost of the conversion I spent little on pool supplies compared to the hundreds on the other. You will not regret the...

    Sand Filter Lower Drain Leak

What a lovely find when we found that mice had nibbled at our sand filter lower drain threads. We left the 'cap' off when we drained it. Any suggestions to stop the very little drips that come from that connection? :D Thanks, Patti

Purchasing our first AGP from a dealer ; Getting mislead? Need input....(pics)

I also do not see the cost of set up only delivery to home. We have bottom drains (probably because of the size) but I think a bottom drain helps keep it cleaner? I'm with Tim, I wouldn't trust him at this point. I think the 6'x 14' is quite expensive. We have a 33' round, put a wood deck...

    Normal to add chlorine daily?

Also, today while vacuuming, I found very tiny new growth of leafy plant...very tiny, extremely tiny. We have an oak tree next to the pool, not sure if it is dropping something. When we vacuum, I use a 'sock' over the skimmer basket to collect stuff....that is where I found the tiny...

    Normal to add chlorine daily?

Ok...I dosed up at 12:20pm to get to FC8 ---- 1.4 gallons of 12.5% ....30 minutes later, it was 5.0...now at 3:00pm it is FC - 0 again. I back washed before I did any of this to clean filter, we have checked behind the steps, and the pool is beautifully clean. I'm having kids vacuum up any...

    Normal to add chlorine daily?

I'm in full sun as well, but in Michigan with a bit cooler weather! - - - Updated - - - Ok...forgot about that extra chart! The CYA is tough to read with bifocals! Right now: FC 1.5 CC 0.5 pH 7.5 TA 170 CYA 50 I usually dose up at night, but will get up to 8 and will test again after dark...

    Normal to add chlorine daily?

I am a recent bacqucil convert --- finished a month ago. My numbers: FC 0 pH 7.5 TA 130 CYA 50 I'm adding 1 gal 1 cup nightly to get to 5.0........in morning it is still 5.0, but by nightfall i'm back to 0 of FC. Pool in sun all day. Is this consumption of chlorine normal? I will test...

Converting from Baquacil CDX to Chlorine

colaman....On the OCLT test, I took a sample 30 minutes after I chlorined up to FC15, tested it then put the remaining water into a cabinet that saw no sunlight. Then in the morning when I took my sample from the pool, I tested the new pool sample, as well as the cabinet one. They were the...

Converting from Baquacil CDX to Chlorine

Colaman....Yes, it was the step to complete the conversion and after all that work, I didn't want to 'chance' messing up a good thing! Besides, I'm the type that usually follows instructions. I'm glad I did it because I know for sure the sand is clean. When I got to the laterals on the...

Patti-New to TFP and converting from Baquacil

Kim, The old sand is in our woods and new is in. It was hard to keep digging it out when it looked like new. BUT we are 'clear of the goo'. The pool looks sparkly has it has since day 3 or 4. I'm working on tweaking the balancing. Using the suggested goals on the pool math. On the hot...

    Baquacil conversion

pgatherum, I used CDX for the three years we used Baqucil. We started with half water refill. The conversion went pretty close to the 2-3 days of really nasty water with yellow specks floating and the pool water just ugly, but after 2-3 days of every 1.5 or 2 hours (9am to 9pm) testing and...

Converting from Baquacil CDX to Chlorine

Colaman: you would see specks of yellow stuff on the top. It is difficult to skim them because they dispurse when you hit them. Once the water clears you will have a pile of 'stuff' on the bottom. We used the vacuum hose and backwashed every 10 minutes. I changed our sand yesterday and it...

Patti-New to TFP and converting from Baquacil

Sand changed on Saturday and it looked perfect - Takes 45 minutes to remove 300# of sand! I was glad to know the laterals swivel up so you can take that center tube out to finish the last of the sand. Only a few little specks of goo....Also the laterals had some gunk, but I took a toothpick...

Converting from Baquacil CDX to Chlorine

I'm just completing my conversion of a 27,000 gallon pool that used CDX. For two straight days I tested every 2 hours and upped the chlorine. I had 12.5% and we went through about 50 gallons in 3 days. The pool looked like a total loss with all the stuff floating and accumulating in the...

Morning....we passed!!!! I even kept a sample in the house from last nights sample. They read the same. We were at 16 and went down to 15.5!!! Heading to pool supply store for new hose and return stoppers. Used a wine cork in the 'eye' hole last night and left the filter off. Then on to...

Patti-New to TFP and converting from Baquacil

Thanks Kim, Yes, I've read those instructions over and over. What wasn't clear if keeping the FC at 15ppm throughout the day. It is crystal clear, I see nothing floating or growing on my ladder. Will keep on keeping on! Went out and checked tonight and found a leak in our return hose. Fun...

Thank you! ....we are only adding Chlorine at night and are now seeing only dropping 2 -3 ppm by morning. My husband is getting anxious to get the sand removed as he thinks that is the cause. Tonight I'm going to load up on Chlorine and save a sample in the house and see if they match in the...

A few questions while pondering a conversion

Thanks byebye....I'm sure your daughter will appreciate the fact her taste will no longer be 'off'. That was one of my biggest complaints from my kids and me. Although my YMCA swimmer said he doesn't like chlorine....dah...that is what the Y used...I didn't tell him that because you can't...

How to Handle Solar Cover, Ladders, Toys and stuff

Thanks for the information....I have already done that with the ladder and looks good. I don't see any '''growth''' from the ladder now that it is in the pool. I'll toss the 'toys and stuff' in tonight.

Need some advice. We are on the home stretch! Or so I think. I received our test kit and am getting up to speed on testing. So, the pool is beautiful crystal clear. I have no 'reaction' when I add Chlorine. Yesterday we had to put the solar cover (we live on a dirt road and we are starting...
