what's the pressure reading you are now getting out of the new gauge on the filter? when you open the air bleed on top of the filter, while not getting water out..does it blow air?

Turn the low speed pump on and go look to where there is flow. Sounds like it is a booster pump for the spa. If you see flow in the spa, It most likely is pulling from the spa drain. If not there...keep looking...it's coming from somewhere and going somewhere...

What test kit are you using? If you're using a 25 ml sample for chlorine test then you usually multiply by .2. The .5 multiplier (or dividing by 1/2) is for the 10 ml sample size test. In your example 41 drops X .2 = 8.2 chlorine level...not 20. hope this helps!

I run 90 minutes mid-day to mix during high temps....then again 3 hours from 7-10 PM because this is when I add chemicals if needed...Pool has been crystal clear since completing my Slam the end of May and using TFP methods!

yes...I found the green in grout line yesterday morning..did the OCLT last night and was NO loss. I did lose yesterday but had partially sunny day..so I'm assuming between the sun and the algae...FC was consumed yesterday. FC dropped from 9 - 7.5 yesterday so I upped it to 10 last night.

Just a new TFP guy here trying to learn...Hopefully will never experience this but I am curious...when pools have the ammonia problem...can you smell it when you are near the pool or disturb the water? Thanks and good luck!

Allison: I feel your pain. I started mid May with a CYA around 140 it was the pay me now or pay me later thingy. I listened to folks here, read a lot...and started a drain..I dropped my CYA to near 140 down to 70 in one drain. (I say near due to testing accuracy at high levels and new to testing...

I've worked out of town for most of last 10 years so wife has been the Pool Captain. I have been home for an extended time now..so I've taken over the pool and found TFP and have learned what CYA is and does. I went to Leslie's for testing before I had my test kit..They have been selling wife...

Yes Tim....I found that out..FC did drop a bit..but had lots of sun before..aeration is minimized due to lanai over the pool...but man what an onslaught. I am draining about an 1 1/2" be Ow normal to get ready for this afternoons expected storms.

Order that kit...yesterday! It's only a guess until you post numbers. Post a picture of the pool too if you can. The one assumption we can make is...if your filter clogs up that quickly, you are dealing with lots of "stuff" that needs to be killed and removed...so it won't be a little...

I'm no expert ...but from all I have read on here so far, why use the algaecide? Maintain proper FC levels and there is no reason to see green stuff starting anywhere. Some of them also contain copper which can deposit on the surface. What are the ingrediants of the algaecide?
