Thanks. Being a novice with the pool test kit I'd only checked the CH and CYA. I'll check the ph tonite and see what reading I get there. Now its seeming more likely that the advice I'd previously rec'd to add add'l acid and flocculant were directed at keeping the ph lower to reduce scaling...
