    Liquid chlorine prices up?

Are refillable jugs available at your Leslie's, or other pool stores, in Katy? I get 2.5 gallon refills of 10% for $4.50 at a local place here in Florida.

DC Splash Ready or softener salt?

I'm going to try adding salt for the silky feel (no SWCG). I found Diamond Crystal Splash Ready at a farm supply store for $6 a bag. Any reason to avoid it?

    Mustard algae chlorine levels?

Didn't the old CYA chart have a 'mustard algae' column? I found Chem Geek's chart/post from 2007. Does his 60% of CYA rule still apply? Thanks!

    Generator to run pool pump?

Doesn't that require a cord with male plugs at each end? I think that's an NEC code issue. More importantly, what happens if someone unplugs the dryer end while the generator is running? That male plug is live and it would be mighty easy to accidentally touch those live prongs...

    NPT Lightwaves Tile

I don't have glass tile but I found some info on the NPT site. Care and Maintenance | National Pool Tile Group The relevant paragraph mentions "calcium releaser" (or pumice stones). I found a product by that name at Oceancare Products: Oceancare Products - Calcium Releaser Hopefully...

Help to ID debris in pump basket

It went from bubbles swirling in to just a bubble stuck against the lid. Not since it was installed a year ago. I'll lube the O ring and see if that helps.

Help to ID debris in pump basket

Thanks Jason and Jamison04! You called it! It took a few minutes but most of the air bled off. Only a little bit more debris came out so that concern is over. I still have bubbles when the floor drain is open so I guess I'll be trying to track down a suction side leak.

Help to ID debris in pump basket

Never got it past 25% before closing it out of concern it might starve the pump. Maybe I was too paranoid? - - - Updated - - - Okay, I'll be patient with it this time.

Help to ID debris in pump basket

That's a great point. With the valve closed before/since the refill, the air would be trapped until I opened it today. Thanks! I wonder if opening the valve with the pump off would allow the water pressure to push most of the air out of the pipe...

Help to ID debris in pump basket

Can anyone identify what this is and where it's coming from? Background: I keep my floor drain line closed and the skimmer line open. I have some dirt in pool congregated around the drain so I decided to see if it would get pulled into the drain. I slowly opened the valve. When I did, I got...

    Personal experience with EcoFinish pools?

Have you searched TFP for ecofinish? There are some good posts. https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/128301-ecoFINISH-aquaBRIGHT-longterm-review Look for posts by bdavis466 too. He has tested & installed it. I had it applied to my pool last summer. I'm happy with it.

Someone with more experience than me will come along but losing 4 ppm of chlorine overnight sounds like algae. I'd SLAM.

    New pump recommendations?

I have Withlacoochee River Electric. At $.112 kHw, 1200 rpm = $4.71 and 1750 rpm = $9.41. That's a considerable difference. Obviously your setup isn't exactly like mine. Your plumbing may be a bit more or less efficient but it sure looks like the vsp makes sense. Do you run the pump 8 hrs a...

    New pump recommendations?

My Dura-glas was replaced with a Superflo VS last spring. I can't speak to 'direct replacement' plumbing question because my filter was replaced at the same time. My pool is 10k gal with no features. I'm very happy. I skim at 2200 rpm for 1-2 hrs then circulate at 1200 rpm for 6 hrs. My electric...

Opinions on Pentair SuperFlo Variable Speed Pump...

Yes, I would recommend it. I had a single speed pump replaced with a SuperFlo VS 6 months ago. I'm very happy. I skim at 2200 rpm then circulate at 1200 rpm. My 'average kWh/day' has dropped 33-38%. It's barely audible at 1200 rpm which makes for a far more pleasant environment while enjoying...
