    Long-term pool close?

Is there such thing? We're thinking of "retiring" our pool. We don't want to get rid of it, but we also don't want to keep maintaining it as it costs money and because no one is using it any longer (sad). How would we do such thing?

    What is this part's name?

The suction cleaner was stuck at the main drain today, and I had to pull it to move it away. Maybe I do need this vari-flow. Does it provide more suction?

    What is this part's name?

Lol So the cleaner works again without this vari-flo. Somehow. Do I even need this?

    What is this part's name?

I don't know what this part is called. I found it attached to a "Hayward skimmer adapter cone" (part# V093C). My "Zodiac G3" pool cleaner does not move around anymore because of not enough suction. I cleaned the skimmer basket already. Maybe some kind of clog in the pipe? Thoughts? Thanks.

    Removing rust (?) stains?

Hi I have this rust (?) spot/stain in the attached spa. I read that you can use vitamin C tablet (ascorbic acid) to clean this. Is this ok? Secondary question: What caused this? Thanks!

Lazy, so I need a once-a-week thing to maintain a pool.

I've been pouring liquid chlorine for 2 years and I grew tired of doing this. Main reason is the hassle of buying them (buy, drive to Home Depot, drive back, pour them daily, splatter them on cloth ruining it). On top of that I needed to brush and vacuum. So much work (you can argue it's...

Need repair or patch this but don't know what material

Hollow area is about 4 by 3 inches. I have not done any plastering. Grouting yes, tiling long ago.

Well I have drained the pool (because of unrelated issue). It's dry right now.

Need repair or patch this but don't know what material

This is the pool floor. I think it's also plaster. I also see small crack now that you mention it. I don't know the age of the pool, we bought this house 2 years ago. Would this work? https://www.homedepot.com/p/Pool-Patch-3-lb-White-Pool-Plaster-Repair-Kit-WPP3/204506693 Thanks.

Need repair or patch this but don't know what material

Hi, I'm not sure what material this pool is made of and how to patch this. Do I need to hire a professional? Picture attached. I could also have a 15-second video up soon (on yt as unlisted) - let me know. Thank you!

Hayward c3000 | putting back together after cleaning = leak

Thanks. Is the silicone sealant required? Does it make the d-ring last longer or what does it do? (there's no leak)

Hayward c3000 | putting back together after cleaning = leak

I corrected it. I had stripped the sleeve nuts because I used a pliers carelessly instead of a wrench and the D-ring fell inside the housing (didn't know about this). The replacements arrived yesterday and I have a socket wrench this time. I placed the D-ring (why is it called D-ring when it's...

Hayward c3000 | putting back together after cleaning = leak

Hi, I have Hayward c3000 and I took off the lid and cartridges and cleaned them. When putting back together, the D-ring (large "o" ring) fit but the top cap does not fit snugly. It then leaked. What should I do? Thanks.

Buy bleach, buy bleach... and buy more bleach

I've had this pool maintained for months. So far so good. However I'd like to ... limit my visit to Home Depot to buy liquid chlorine. Home Depot is 15 minutes drive. I could buy bulk but they may expire or degrade. I also don't want them to ship because 10 boxes ($50ish) cost $78 more to ship...

    I'm screwed? 300 CYA

Tested this morning, FC is 11.5. Last night was 10 and added chlorine to 12. That means it lost 0.5. CC is 1 drop (0.5). Water is clear. I think I'm done :). Yes?

    I'm screwed? 300 CYA

Report: Yesterday 6/3, started at 6a. Started pump. Brushed. FC was 1 and shocked to 12. Tested every 1 to 2 hours until 6pm. Throughout the FC dropped 2-3. Added more chlorine back to 12 every time. Last check was 8pm (FC was 10, added to 12). Pump was running all day. Tested CC only three...

What if you put too much liquid chlorine?

Yes it's sunny. 71 F in San Diego, California. Phew it's ok/not so bad then. Thanks!

What if you put too much liquid chlorine?

Either my FC measurement is wrong or I put too much chlorine. Today at 9am it was 9 so I need to bring it up to shock level of 12 (I'm doing SLAM). PoolMath says 1 quart 3 cups. I put like 15 cups thinking 1 quart =12 cups. LOL (facepalm). It's actually 4 cups (1 quart = 4 cups) so I should...

Pool pump what pipe/valve does what, confused

A = I see. Well the pump is corrected to 1HP WhisperFlo. D = Unsure lol. It turns on/off pump and timer. I never tried the water heater F = If I switch to Pool ("off" points to spa), does it suck water from pool only? G = Corrected. Label is in back. Hayward C-300 I added signature. Thanks. But...

Hi all, I need some help. Got the house 6 months ago and it has a pool. What a pain ( lol ). I don't know much about its plumbing. Can someone identify below (label A-L)? As far as I know: A = Pump itself (1 HP) C = timer D = master electrical switch F = (unsure) switch between sucking water...
