Can I start adding CYA if my chlorine level is 15?

Well the last little bit of black algae seems to be gone. How long should I keep the chlorine level elevated to be on the safe side? I think I have read 2-3 days. Do you agree?

Can I start adding CYA if my chlorine level is 15?

To Etchase. It is on both the tile and grout. But it was clear for a year. However I didn't keep up with the chemical balance and so I think it's mostly my own fault.

Can I start adding CYA if my chlorine level is 15?

Thanks again. I am worried though about using a wire brush on tile. No one seems to consider tile when they talk about pool surfaces. On the pool calculator I use plaster as the closest choice. And I did read TFP's write up on black algae ( and several others) . That's my starting point.

Can I start adding CYA if my chlorine level is 15?

Don't know how to add a picture, but I tried. We have had black algae before when our pool was plastered. Now it is tiled. Anyway. It's black and hard to scrub off and looks green when you scrub it.

Can I start adding CYA if my chlorine level is 15?

One other question. The guide I got from TFP for Saltwater pools is to have the CYA level be 70-80. You are recommending 30. Is that a starting point so I don't add too much?

Can I start adding CYA if my chlorine level is 15?

I have a black algae problem and so I raised the chlorine level to combat it. However I forgot to test the CYA level. When I did it seems to be 0 (not a test I have a lot of faith in). The CYA manufacturer recommends a chlorine level of 1-4 before beginning. Is that really necessary? If so I...

need new swg for aging plaster pool advice please

The power supply/programming module is almost impossible to change. Only the on/off button works. How long have you had the calimar titanium? some threads have said it's not reliable. Thanks for the input

need new swg for aging plaster pool advice please

I have an old 10500 gallon pool. I live in Hawaii and the plaster is in bad shape so it take a lot of chlorine to keep it clear. My circupool rj60 swg is on its last legs - starting to leak and I can't reprogram it easily. What would be a good replacement. I saw the calimar titaninium at a great...

    compupool command module overheating

Recently had problems with module's time being thrown off several times a week. After a while, realized it was overheating (saw it happen) and turning off and messing up the time. I cut back % from 60 to 40 and it is still overheating. Any ideas? pH 8 FC 4 CC 0.5 TA 110 CH 400 Cya 40 Salt 3330...

connect a variable speed pump to old intermatic control?

Forgive me if I am asking dumb questions, but I am trying to understand how it all goes together. I have a separate pump for the pool sweeper. Would the variable pump replace that? I am thinking of buying the intelliflo. If it can replace the other pump using a higher speed on the variable, I'm...

connect a variable speed pump to old intermatic control?

I live in Hawaii so have high electric prices. I would like to buy a variable speed pump but don't know if it can be connected to my older intermatic control. Right now I have a filter, cholorinator, and a pool sweep connected to it (all made by different companies). If I have to buy a new...

    Fas-DPD vs DPD

I also can never get all the granules to dissolve, but I figured that they had you add more than probably needed

    Fas-DPD vs DPD

I usually use 10 ml but was using the 25 ml to see if it might be more accurate. I've probably used the fas for over a year but whenever I do a comparison the dpd is always lower by what seems to me a substantial amount.

    Fas-DPD vs DPD

I consistently get much higher readings with the fas-dpd method as compared to the dpd or strip methods. For example: fas-dpd dpd strip 6.4 2-3 2-3 5.6 2-3 2-3 Is there a reason for this? Should I check my reagents? Mahalo

Is my Circupool RJ30 putting out amount chlorine claimed?

I just installed a Circupool RJ30. How can I figure out if it is putting out the amount of chlorine it claims to? I have a 10,500 gal pool. I thought I would be able to run it at a lower % and shorter amount of time since it is for a 30,000 gal pool. That isn't happening. I have been continually...

Smallpooldad, Thanks for suggestions. We don't have ph/orp but will try your other ideas. I did notice and tried to clean cable connections but the spray sounds like a better plan.

Pool pilot low volt and amps

I noticed that several people are buying different systems (AquaRite, CircuPool, Goldline). Is there a place online where the different systems are compared/reviewed? Do they all require an electrician to put in?

Thanks Jeff. Our board also looks fried - the same as in the picture. One person did say that some capacitors are brown. So Sean or anyone who has seen the board pre-fried. Are all the capacitors blue to start with?

Pool pilot low volt and amps

Yesterday with the Sc 36 the volt/amps measured 24/4.3, 16/2.7 and 21/4.4 about an hour apart. Today 28/2.0 The volts seem in the right range now. Does that mean it's just the cell? or are the volts supposed to go up when the amps go down when the cell fails? The salt measurements continue to be...

Pool pilot low volt and amps

We tested the voltage and got 238 so that's ok. Today the volt/amp was 12/2.2. Then, I switched back to the original SC 36 and got 16/2.6 then about an hour later 27/3.6 1/2 hour later 28/2.2. I will remeasure tomorrow as it seems to be varying a lot.

Pool pilot low volt and amps

How /where do we test the voltage? We have a voltage meter but aren't sure where to test. The salt concentration by test strip is 3340 so the reading from the tri-sensor is off. Should we check the tri-sensor metal strip?
