Well the last little bit of black algae seems to be gone. How long should I keep the chlorine level elevated to be on the safe side? I think I have read 2-3 days. Do you agree?

To Etchase. It is on both the tile and grout. But it was clear for a year. However I didn't keep up with the chemical balance and so I think it's mostly my own fault.

Thanks again. I am worried though about using a wire brush on tile. No one seems to consider tile when they talk about pool surfaces. On the pool calculator I use plaster as the closest choice. And I did read TFP's write up on black algae ( and several others) . That's my starting point.

Don't know how to add a picture,but I tried. We have had black algae before when our pool was plastered. Now it is tiled. Anyway. It's black and hard to scrub off and looks green when you scrub it.

One other question. The guide I got from TFP for Saltwater pools is to have the CYA level be 70-80. You are recommending 30. Is that a starting point so I don't add too much?

How should you dispose of out-dated pool reagents? Pour it down the drain? Wait for a hazardous material drop off day?

I also can never get all the granules to dissolve, but I figured that they had you add more than probably needed

I usually use 10 ml but was using the 25 ml to see if it might be more accurate. I've probably used the fas for over a year but whenever I do a comparison the dpd is always lower by what seems to me a substantial amount.

I consistently get much higher readings with the fas-dpd method as compared to the dpd or strip methods. For example: fas-dpd dpd strip 6.4 2-3 2-3 5.6 2-3 2-3 Is there a reason for this? Should I check my reagents? Mahalo

I noticed that several people are buying different systems (AquaRite, CircuPool, Goldline). Is there a place online where the different systems are compared/reviewed? Do they all require an electrician to put in?

Yesterday with the Sc 36 the volt/amps measured 24/4.3, 16/2.7 and 21/4.4 about an hour apart. Today 28/2.0 The volts seem in the right range now. Does that mean it's just the cell? or are the volts supposed to go up when the amps go down when the cell fails? The salt measurements continue to be...

We tested the voltage and got 238 so that's ok. Today the volt/amp was 12/2.2. Then, I switched back to the original SC 36 and got 16/2.6 then about an hour later 27/3.6 1/2 hour later 28/2.2. I will remeasure tomorrow as it seems to be varying a lot.

How /where do we test the voltage? We have a voltage meter but aren't sure where to test. The salt concentration by test strip is 3340 so the reading from the tri-sensor is off. Should we check the tri-sensor metal strip?
