Conversation with a friend who installed the exact same pool

On the rare occasion that I go to a pool store (specific maintenance item or to get my Polaris worked on) the employees will try to sell me some hocus pocus and when I push back or explain why I don’t need it, they argue with me. When I try to talk to my friends about pool care, they sound like...

    Muriatic Acid and TA

My TA stays high since my fill water is high also. I just keep my eye on my pH and because I run my water fountain everyday, I’m typically adding acid every 4-5 days which automatically knocks my TA down. Like Jim was saying, as long as your pH is fine and your TA is above 50, it’s not an issue.

    Pool Math App

Hey there! I messed up. Tonight I logged into pool math on my iPad and it wasn’t the same updated information on my phone. I looked at the information and realized it was an account I didn’t mean to create. I then went to my phone and everything was there so I updated my results. They where I...

    Protecting Equipment in Freezing Temps

I have the cleaner but I don’t think I can take the lid off of that. I don’t think it will be cold enough either but my husband is getting antsy so I’m trying to appease him too. Thanks Jim! As always, your quick response and advice is super helpful!

    Protecting Equipment in Freezing Temps

Are you saying pop the lid off the waterfall pump? Also, the spa runs automatically. I don’t know how to stop that.

    Protecting Equipment in Freezing Temps

Hi everyone, I am in a bit of a panic mode and my pool maintenance company isn’t responding, likely because it’s Sunday. The freezing temps have arrived in Houston and it’s cold! It’s my first year here and my first year with this pool. I recently began having my automation changed out from...

Not new to pool ownership but new to this pool

Ok, new question that popped up as I read through some older forum posts. Will converting to salt cause an issue for my pool deck, coping and rock waterfall? Do I need to seal everything before the conversion is complete?

Alright, right now I’m considering changing my automation to pentair and adding a pentair salt system. Looking at the options as this may be the cheapest way to go!

Lol, ok well that makes me feel better that it’s a normal line. They have me questioning any knowledge I have about pools. And the pressure to get a pool service…phew! They can’t believe I want to do it myself! I think I can hold off on the wifi access based on that cost, lol. So, I was...

Not new to pool ownership but new to this pool

Thanks Jim. I suspected as much about the CYA as much but was hoping I was wrong. One pool company just recommended a pentair SWG conversion kit. Cost is $2219 and install is $675 but they are on backorder.

I haven’t found an inside unit yet. I’m a little OCD so I’m wiping down walls. I haven’t come across anything yet. Here is a pic of the outside one though.

Thanks Jim, the CYA is 100! I had a SWG on my old pool. I’m considering it here but pool companies seem to be against it and I don’t have experience with concrete pools to understand why that would be. My last pool was vinyl. I know I need more chlorine than what’s in there for sure! Do all...

Thank you, Herman! I do have an Antenna but it’s not near the pool equipment. Here is a picture of the software version (if I’m doing this correctly). See that’s one reason I’m confused. The realtor said it was a chlorinator. I did see one thing that said Nature2 and when I typed that in on...

Hi everyone! I just moved to TX from NC and the home we moved into has an existing pool. Im at a complete loss on how to operate anything about it. I’ve been trying to connect it to my phone with no luck. Today I tested the water with my TF-100 kit and these are not numbers I’ve ever seen in...
