A nearly-white finish (which they both are) is going to result in an almost indiscernible water color from the next nearly-white finish. In my opinion, the only real difference is what the finish will like when looking directly at it. Having said that, I can't imagine you could really go wrong...

I was in your position a year ago. After research here on this forum, I went with Doheny's Discovery. Our pools sound almost identical. As for the stairs and shelf, I just brush them off into the pool where the robot can to the dirt, sunken leaves, etc., every few days or so.

Our three deck jets are on an actuator valve, so automation comes from the system. They are on the same pump as the rest of the pool. They are fun every now and then, but don't get used a whole lot. But, we decided to do them during the build while they were "cheap."

The need to backwash sooner because it was more effective. Kinda one of those good negatives, since better filtration is what you're after.
