Help With Sand/Dirt Coming Back Into Pool

Yes, I have passed the 3 criteria Yes because I am gone for a handful of days over the summer, so I am unable to add liquid chlorine every day. I just use the chlorine tablets because they are easier/more convenient, but I am aware that they will slowly increase my CYA as that was what my issue...

Help With Sand/Dirt Coming Back Into Pool

Hey guys - reviving this old thread because I'm hoping you can shed some light on my issue I'm currently having. Had a great summer with clear water, but over labor day weekend, i didn't realize my auto chlorine feeder valve was stuck, so my pool wasn't getting any chlorine for a few days. I...

Help With Sand/Dirt Coming Back Into Pool

Yeah I was thinking about repeating the test Saturday morning to confirm. I tested my CYA back on 5/18 and it was at 55, but I will do it again to see where it is at since I have vacuumed to waste a few times since then, which would have lowered my CYA. Understandable. I have been steadily...

Help With Sand/Dirt Coming Back Into Pool

Pool is very clear, yes, just the debris/dead algae on the bottom in the middle. No ladders or lights in the pool. I will scrub the whole pool and report back. I am having to add about 1/2 gallon of 12.5% liquid bleach every other day currently - is this normal for the hot and sunny part of...

Help With Sand/Dirt Coming Back Into Pool

Ok guys, I have been just vacuuming to waste the dead algae. Done it twice now, and did an OCLT this past Friday night/Saturday morning, and I did not have any CL loss overnight. However, I am still seeing an accumulation of dead algae on the bottom of the pool. What would be the next course of...

Help With Sand/Dirt Coming Back Into Pool

Well guys, I was unable to perform the OCLT as we had a big storm that rolled through last night, but i was able to get in the pool before it hit and stir up the debris, and it appears to be dead algae - it definitely "poofed" up into a cloud when I disturbed it with my foot as you can see in...

I did that a couple times at the beginning of the summer and the dirt/debris would still return

Help With Sand/Dirt Coming Back Into Pool

I will check tonight when I get home - my FC is 4 and CYA is 55 and have been ever since opening the pool this summer though - how could it be algae then?

Help With Sand/Dirt Coming Back Into Pool

Hey guys - wondering if you guys could help me figure out an issue I'm having with my pool regarding sand/dirt in the pool. Right now, I have to vacuum it once a week, which I know doesn't sound terrible, but that week is me waiting until it gets bad enough to where I need to vacuum it. There...

    Help With SLAM Please!

Ok guys, after adding the 2 lbs of conditioner in the sock, tested my CYA 2 days later and it was at 40. Added 80 oz of the 7.5% Clorox since I then Left town for the weekend to go to the Oklahoma - Nebraska game in Norman (what a game!) Came back and tested it last night, and FC was at a 3, so...

    Help With SLAM Please!

Good to know - I went out and added 2 lbs of conditioner in a sock that I hung in front of the return jet. Yes, at this current time unfortunately Clorox is the only brand of bleach available. Went to Menards the other day to grab their last 3 jugs of 12.5% liquid chlorine, but on the way there...

    Help With SLAM Please!

Hey guys, thanks for the info! So been targeting 5 ppl FC over the past couple days. Thought I would hit it after last nights Clorox addition, but still was at 3 ppm after work. Tested my CYA and it was at 25. Tested my pH and Chlorine on the smaller testing vial, and Chlorine matched up at 3...

    Help With SLAM Please!

Ok guys, pool is still looking great, but I am curious how much liquid chlorine you usually have to add for maintenance. Been having to add regular 7.5% bleach since the local menard's is out of the 12.5% liquid chlorine. Here's my numbers and additions since 9/4 - weather has been sunny and hot...

    Help With SLAM Please!

Well Newdude, I think that if I had gotten home at a decent time to where I could have dropped a nickel in the pool while it was still in the sun, I probably would have passed the test! Best I could do after work yesterday:

Thank you! I am going to test the CYA again and target the higher corresponding FC number from that chart. Now that you called me out, I am going to have to do it when I get home and see if you can pick out the date! haha!

    Help With SLAM Please!

Well guys, all seems to be going well now. I could definitely pass the nickel test. Had some friends over this weekend and the water was, and still is, crystal clear! Checked last night and FC was at a 2, so I added 40 oz of bleach (went to refill on the stronger liquid chlorine from Menards...

    Help With SLAM Please!

Sounds good - will keep it up for another day or so. Water is pretty dang clear. Hard to tell since Pump runs 24/7 and makes Ripples on the surface, but water is very very clear. Will check tonight on CC’s. Checked a couple of times over the course of this SLAM and every time it was .5 or less.

    Help With SLAM Please!

Well guys I think I am home free now. Here is how the pool looked yesterday after work prior to me vacuuming up the little bit of debris in the middle. I passed the OCLT this morning as well. So now I can allow my FC to drift down to 3-5 ppm correct?
