    I’m so frustrated please help

You may be seeing dead algae. It will pass through many filters when vacuuming. It settles overnight. Try vacuum to waste to get rid of the dead stuff. Have your hose running in the pool to replace any lost water.

    Pool Heater suggestions

I may be in the market for a new pool heater. 250,000 BTU, natural gas. Any suggestions as to brand or personal experiences welcome. Online reviews sometime look like paid ads so it is hard to get a feel for quality. Raypak seems to stand out though. It is made by Rheem so i suppose it has good...

    Bird Poop in pool

Thanks for all of the replies. It quieted down about a week ago. All has been good. Now just battling pollen from oak trees. BTW, I did my research. The white bird droppings without chunks is simply bird urine. They really know what they are doing.

    pool heater plumbing

Hello All, What is the best way to install a pool heater? Have water constantly run through the heater even when heater is not being used or have a bypass valve to have water go through heater only when being used? It is a Laars 250k btu natural gas with standing pilot. Thanks in advance.

    Bird Poop in pool

I read your thread. Sorry but good to know I am not alone. I know I can't stop it but I was just wondering about disease or germ build up. I am expecting a grandson any day now and he will probably get a dunk or two before the end of the season.

    Bird Poop in pool

Due to current events I have been out of work since March 16. With time on my hands I opened the pool April 5, about five weeks earlier than normal. I notice every year birds poop a lot in the spring, I guess it is part of their nesting. Every year the poop would be on the cover but this year...

    Fiberglass Pool settling

Thanks duraleigh but the issue is under the concrete. The dirt around the pool has settled. Can’t photo that until I remove some concrete. I guess my question is this, is removing some concrete from around the pool and backfill with dirt the best solution to stabilize the pool and remaining...

    Fiberglass Pool settling

Comments and suggestions welcome. I have a 14'x32', 10,000 gallon fiberglass pool. Installed 17 years ago. All is good. Dirt around pool settled over the years leaving a 5" gap under the concrete around the pool. Probably should have tamped dirt better but I am beyond that point today. Weight of...

    Cracked eyeball threads

The Fitting Saver "Frankenplug" worked. It sealed the cracked return fitting. Fairly easy to install. White eyeball trim ring looks similar to my other returns. Will it last, only time will tell. I think it will. There are You Tube videos from the vendor showing how to install.

    Cracked eyeball threads

Thanks Patrick and Chemnut. I went to a few local pool stores. One is a repair business and one installs fiberglass pools. They both recommend cutting concrete and replace the fitting which I know is the correct fix. Neither heard of the FITTING SAVER. The third pool store, which I saved for...

    How do you measure bleach?

Same here. I have a graduated pitcher for liquids and a small food scale for dry chemicals. If Pool Calc tells me to add 8.8 ozs of something....I'm right there.

pool opening test results - help-want to chlorinate tonight

I do not have as much experience as most on here but adding bleach or diclor tonight will at least start killing algae. It should last through the night even without cya because of no sun (which eats up the clorine). Run the filter on recirculate if possible to keep most of the gunk out of the...

heat exchanger cracked...had pool service close last year

stupid question....did you tighten all of your drain plugs? My heater has three of them. Water gushed for me too until I realized there was a third plug. Pool guys will leave these loose over winter is case of a freeze of left over moisture in the heater.

    Wits end with cloudiness!

I am in South Jersey. Pollen was very heavy about two weeks ago when I opened. You also opened two weeks ago. Do you have many trees in your area? Try a skimmer sock or DE in your sand filter. I did and it worked slowly but cleared it up.
