    Cleaner Recommendation

Top is $1k; it's worth it to me if it really works and saves me time and the pool is always ready to swim rather than me vacuuming for twenty minutes every time. I ask for recommendations because I know at least two people who bought robots that didn't work out for their pool; either couldn't...

    Nightmare Opening

Just wanted to report back that the opening went great once I started following SLAM. My problem before was I just wasn't keeping the chlorine levels high enough to keep up with the algae; I'd kill a bunch; filter it out; but the chlorine got eaten up so quickly that I was fighting a newly...

    Cleaner Recommendation

Looking for a recommendation for robotic pool cleaner. I have a 16x32 vinyl pool; approx 25K gallons. Deep end is a kind of weird 3D trapezoid (picture attached) with each side having slope from the sides. Pool is surrounded by trees; I can have it perfectly clean and the next day there is...

    Auto pump shutoff

I guess "sucking air" is bad terminology. I can see that the pump basket is not completely filled with water; after the filter gets clogged enough, the pump struggles to pull enough water through that it isn't able to even fill the entire pump basket with water. Technically, there isn't air in...

    Auto pump shutoff

Yes I am SLAMing. I'll take your advice. Still seems this would be a useful feature in a pump. Even if I'm around all day, checking the pressure every couple hours, there is going to be some point where it hits 20-25% pressure increase and I don't notice it for an hour or so. Then the pump...

    Auto pump shutoff

I do have a recirculate option. Ideally, I would run the filter until it increases 20%, then recirculate until I can backwash / clean filter. What do you propose?

    Auto pump shutoff

In trying to open my pool, I run the pump 24x7. However, eventually the filter will clog and the pump is now working overtime trying to push water through the filter. Sometimes I come down and water is trickling into the pump it's lost so much suction. Are there any products that will sense...

Alternative to pool skim top water cleaner

I have one of these things and it works awesome. However, the net is starting to get a couple holes and can't find a replacement. Anyone know of a store that carries them or some other alternative? All you really need is a mesh net with a drawstring on one side.

    Nightmare Opening

Testkit is in the mail! Having said that, I don't think the CYA would be that high. I've only used di-chlor or pure liquid chlorine in it so far so any CYA would be whatever is left from last year. I'll update once I get my kit. I'm sure there is some at the bottom. I've used my leaf net...

    Nightmare Opening

Yes I am on well water. I've used it very sparingly to add an inch or two here or there, but I really don't like using it. A 5500 gallon truck is $225 for me. I am going to get one truck's worth as I've lowered my water level too much via vacuuming to waste and some backwashing. That will...

    Nightmare Opening

I do have vacuum to waste and I tried that for a bit but vacuuming was stirring up so much debris I couldn't see what I was vacuuming after a while. Another question: how quickly should I see the pool turn color? If I'm maintaining appropriate shock levels, should it still be green or more...

    Nightmare Opening

First time poster here. I've read the SLAM page and the green to clear page. I just ordered the TF-100 test kit. Every opening, I am welcomed by an extremely green pool. But for the past four years, I've been able to clear it up relatively quickly. I started opening the pool this year about...
