Aluminum pool fence brand or supplier recommendation?

I want to install a new pool fence which meets "modern" code. The pool fence I have now is from ~1981 and is a split rail fence with a wire mesh stapled to it. I want to install the aluminum fencing in a new layout. I am leaning toward the 54" high panels with the two top rails, black in...

    Loop-loc cover vendors?

Our loop lock cover has seen better days and needs to be replaced, It is 15 years old so it is time. Is there consistently a good (cheaper) vendor to order through? We want a loop-loc branded cover. So far we called two dealers one was $3k+ with the other in the $1800 range. I wanted...

    Buying chlorine for the year?

My local grocery store has 12.5% pool shock (bleach) on sale for $2.61 a gallon. In past years I have only seen them get one shipment around the end of may and that's it for the season. So tonight I bought 60 gallons and have them stacked in my temperature controlled basement (72-73 degrees)...

    New owner: Borax caused suds?

I'm pretty much a newbie also....for starters your CYA seems way high! As of now with so much chlorine in you pool, I I don't think the test kits can get valid readings on TA/Ph. I don't know about you water supply but If I was in your potion now I would vacuum out to waste as much of the deep...

    Heaters...is there a comparative resource

Thanks all for the feedabck. 1) Catanzaro you seem to know the dimensions of my pool better than I as you just about perfectly described it.. The 35k gallons was cocktail napkin math--I'll revise to 30k gallons. 2) Sadly no gas is available in my neighborhood. So my choices are limited to...

    Heaters...is there a comparative resource

So the time of the season come where there starts being a chill in the air. The wife-y uni asked what about adding a heater. I've done a little research but want the experiences of others. From what I gather there are several types of heaters. Heat pump heaters, Gas heaters, wood boiler...

    Support for Dohneys discovery cleaner

Update: I contacted Maytronics customer service this morning explaining the situation and two failed repair attempts and requested a new unit. The customer rep listened to my story, took my info, stating she needed to reach to their parts/repair department. ~ two hours later the customer rep...

    Support for Dohneys discovery cleaner

I have opened the ticket/RA requests directly with Maytronics. They direct me to send the unit to a town somewhere in Suburban Philadelphia, it appears to be a third party that may be an authorized service center. I sent the entire unit cleaner and power controller, with the exception of the...

    Support for Dohneys discovery cleaner

Does anyone have experience with support from Maytronics? I purchased a Dohneys label cleaner just over a year ago and have been having issues with it almost the whole time. I just got it back from warranty work for the second time this year...both times a bad motor. I threw the cleaner in the...

High CYA levels...can I fix myself?

Thanks for the great response! Signature updated with details---that I know. For Chlorine, I generally open with hypoclorite, shock weekly with dichlor, and generally have a trichlor puck soaking in the floater. Okay following the dilution method it appears my CYA is in the 110 range. So...

High CYA levels...can I fix myself?

I am finally opening the pool for the summer. As I am doing readings (K2006) my CYA leaves are high. 100+. I don't always do the complete test but last year the CYA was 80ish mid summer. So I am fairly sure the reading is accurate. I don't think anyone can argue that 100 is too high and I...

    Polaris 9300-- dead

Towards the end of last season I purchased a Polaris 9300 cleaner at an auction for a whole $2. While I didn't need it I though tit may be good as a backup or extra. Surprise, surprise, the cleaner didn't work when plugged in. Overall it doesn't look to be in bad shape and has a caddy. Any...

Skimmer not sucking and other questions?

Hello all from a newbie to pools! Last year I bought a house with a 20 x 40 in-ground pool with a vinyl liner. The pool was built in 1981 but is still in great shape with regular maintenance from the previous owners. Anyway the pool has two skimmers....one in the shallow end, one in the...
