Former traditional AGP owner that now owns an Intex...

Thank you! I did already buy all the necessary conversion pieces, the hold up is my husband's hesitation to cutting the liner of our new pool for the skimmer, which I understand, but I do think (know) that we will really miss having a skimmer! We'll see how this summer (or at least this first...

Yeah, I think I can manage the sock method, if not, is there another way? My return jets aren't as fancy on this pool as our previous pool (another reason I'm hoping I can convince my hubby to take the plunge and cut the liner for the skimmer, haha!). Altho if I recall we put the stabilizer in...

Thank you everyone! YES, I ordered new chemical reagents this morning from Amazon! I have about 8 gallons of bleach at home. What should I buy for the stabilizer/CYA? Should I purchase that now or wait until I have the #s? How much bleach should I add to start with (it will be a few days until...

Hello all! After 2 years without a pool (that we lost from damage during an awful storm) we have decided to once again take the plunge into pool ownership. This time we opted for an Intex XTR 26x52 pool that I got a killer deal on in December (Merry Christmas to me!) We live in the country and...

AGP liner is coming off track

Hello all! We took our winter cover off yesterday and noticed that a section of our pool liner has released from the track and is no longer connected. It is way too heavy for us to try and move, so we are not sure how to proceed. The liner is original and we are okay replacing, but when...

    Spring opening with well water

@BuckeyeMac Thank you so much for your help with our well water issues! Our pool is the most clear and blue it's ever been, so your recommendations definitely did the trick! But, we are noticing a greenish tinge about an hour after we add our pool cholrine that lasts most that day and then by...

    Spring opening with well water

@BuckeyeMac , perfect, that is what we are hoping for too but will have it go through the bucket upon return for good measure, I'm double crossing my fingers that this works. Once we get everything connected I will post a picture and again as the process is happening. Thanks again!

    Spring opening with well water

Thanks for checking in @BuckeyeMac! We will be starting this process today!!! The weather here has not been the greatest, lots of storms and such, and we have a tree near our pool that sheds lovely things every spring, so we opted to wait until that was done before attempting this. I'm...

    Spring opening with well water

I think we're just going to drain down to about 2 feet and refill using this contraption, that seems like the best choice. Will keep you posted... Thanks again!

    Spring opening with well water

Also, do you think this would work to cycle through the water that is already in the pool, or do you feel we'd be better off draining down to 2 feet and refilling using this contraption? Sorry for all the questions, just really want to get things right this year!

    Spring opening with well water

Haha, I saw the Go Bucks and thought you meant our Milwaukee Bucks and saw the red colors so was thinking Badgers, oops! But I'm sure OH is a great place to live too! Thanks for the information, definitely worth trying!

    Spring opening with well water

BuckeyeMac, Wow, neat contraption! It sounds like our systems are very similar and we are both in Wisconsin! Sometimes I wonder why we have a pool, summers seem to be getting shorter and shorter each year! We have one the bucket method with the fiber fill inside and ran the water thru that...

    Spring opening with well water

We called around to have water trucked in when we first installed the pool 7 years ago since we were worried about the wear/tear on our well and pump, and that was before we knew the headache we'd have to deal with regarding the metals in our water. There weren't any companies around that could...

    Spring opening with well water

Thank you Texas Splash for your reply! Yes, we used the bucket method last year and also invested in this large bag attachment that went over our return jet and would "catch" the metals as they went back into the pool, it would turn a bright orange color and we'd have to rinse it out once to...

    Spring opening with well water

Hi all, This is our 7th year with a 27' above ground pool that we use well water to fill, which is our only option as we live in the country and the town's Fire Department is not able to bring in water for us. The first few years with the water went pretty good, I used the BBB method without...

New to TFP - starting BBB method

Ok, so this is what I came up with. FC = 6.4 CC = 0.4 (went to very light pink when I added the 5 drops back in) so only took 2 drops to go back to clear. Hopefully these numbers make sense.

Haha, yes, I see that now, sure do feel stupid! I will go and retest and post the FC shortly, thank you!

New to TFP - starting BBB method

When I added the powder I had quite a bit on the paddle, twice, as I'm just not sure how to measure the amount of powder that goes in, there is no "well" in the paddle to hold any powder. So I did that twice, swirled it, it was pretty bright pink, then I proceeded to add the drops but stopped...

New to TFP - starting BBB method

So I just tested the water but do have a question regarding testing the FC/CC. It has the bottle of powder and says to add 2 dippers to water, what exactly is 2 dippers? There is no well for holding any of the powder, like a teaspoon would have, so does that just mean I dip it into the powder...

New to TFP - starting BBB method

Thank you! Just received my test kit, reading over the instructions it came with, feeling a bit overwhelmed so I'm hoping my first test sample goes okay. I will post my results within the hour, excited to see where we're at.

New to TFP - starting BBB method

Hello! This is our 3rd summer having our 28x52 above ground pool which we installed ourselves. The first 1 1/2 summers we used store bought chemicals but never really acheived crystal clear water and spent a ton of money. The second half of last summer I attempted to switch to the BBB after...
