    Pentair Superflo rebuild/Seal question

Here are two pics of the seal in place. You can see the rubber is not really even around the ceramic on top it kind of bulges a little in some spots but the seal looks like it is square and also it looks like its completely bottomed in the second pic.

    Pentair Superflo rebuild/Seal question

Thank you, I was able to seat it all the way but looks a little strange to me and it was very tough to do it. The rubber is not exactly even all around the ceramic. I'll see if I can post a picture of what I am talking about so everyone has a better idea. I really just want to make sure it's...

    Pentair Superflo rebuild/Seal question

Hello, I am rebuilding my 4 yo 1HP 2 Speed Pentair Superflo motor/pump. All apart, installed new bearings and all was going good except I'm pressing the new seal into the seal plate but I don't remember if the old one completely bottomed out inside of the bore. There are 3 ridges on the rubber...

Filter issues and questions while clearing swamp

OK if it is worth it in the long run than I think it would be the best option to temp swap it. Will the 250 lb be big enough? What pressures do sand filters usually run?

Filter issues and questions while clearing swamp

Yes I have been in recirc during the day to keep the water and chlorine flowing evenly but I feel like at the rate Im filtering it is going to take a lot of time and money. I can temp plumb in the sand filter instead of the DE filter at my main inground pump if that would help also. I want to...

Filter issues and questions while clearing swamp

Hello, I have been keeping FC steady at around 20. Pool has turned from very green to milky blueish!!! (My wife is amazed) There are millions of white specs in the pool which I assume are dead algae. My problem is that I still have to backwash my filter every hour and during the day which...

Have questions. Need Help!! In process of shocking!!

Yea the particles are very small. almost to the point of passing by the netting. It is almost like dirt i guess. Thats why I figured I would have to vacuum it out because trying to rake it just really stirs all of it up.

Have questions. Need Help!! In process of shocking!!

I think my wife is going to come home and check FC during lunch and add the necessary amount (running on recirculate). So as long as there is any FC in this case there is no chance for algae to grow (even if it falls to say 2 or 3 by the time I get home)? I still cant see the bottom but when...

Have questions. Need Help!! In process of shocking!!

Yes I am keeping FC levels at 20. (Have a TF-100XL) Checking every hour and adding about 182 oz of 6% about every hour right now. CYA is at 30 and I am in direct sunlight now and I was in the morning also. At about 6:30 I will have cover from trees and the house. The returns are powerful...

Have questions. Need Help!! In process of shocking!!

Hello, I posted about a month or so ago some pictures of my "swamp" that I am trying to get clean. I pulled out whatever I could from the bottom and now I am in the precess of shocking it starting early this morning. I have to backwash every hour because the pressure is rising about 10 psi...

Where to locate filter and pump (pics included)

I am getting the Pentair FNS plus 36 and it has the option for 1.5 or 2 inch multivalves. My pump is a 1 HP Hayward SP and the outlets are 1.5". Should I get the 2" Multiport since I probably wont have this pump forever and just use a 1.5" threaded connection into a 1.5"-2" enlarger for both the...

Worst pool yet? Can I get this clean?

Honestly I wanted to drain all the water and start fresh but have been told be almost everyone not to. The reason I was given have been that the liner will collapse and the sand base will be ruined. Is this true and can and should it be done or will I be OK with what I have planned (scoop...

Where to locate filter and pump (pics included)

Yes that is the one I am replacing. Does pentair make quality valves? or would I be better off with a Hayward or Jandy? Also you can see in the pic up top that the return is a few inches higher than the suction lines. Does the height difference of these matter? Should one be higher than the...

Where to locate filter and pump (pics included)

Hello, I am getting a new filter and reusing my old 1 HP Hayward SP. You can see where the old filter was (I moved it aside to take the picture and it went straight to the garbage). I would like to move the new filter and pump setup about 2 feet further onto the large cement pad where a shed...

Worst pool yet? Can I get this clean?

Hello, Took off the cover today. I purchased this house a few months back. Can I get this clean by filtering and shocking and keeping levels correct or will other measures have to be taken. I can't see further than a foot down. You can see what I am scooping out, it smells like raw sewage...

Purchased house w/ inground pool. Have some questions!

Ok great. The pump and filter were emptying quickly last year then probably because of huge leaks in filter, plumbing and old gaskets on pump. I put all new gaskets on the pump and i am buying a new filter which i mentioned in the mess written up top on this post.

Purchased house w/ inground pool. Have some questions!

Thank you everyone for replying. Im grateful for the patient and encouraging responses. A few more questions. After I scoop out all of the leaves and junk on the bottom and start to run my pump, im guessing i should immediately be adding chlorine? I read through the "turning your green swamp...
