Here are two pics of the seal in place. You can see the rubber is not really even around the ceramic on top it kind of bulges a little in some spots but the seal looks like it is square and also it looks like its completely bottomed in the second pic.

Yea the particles are very small. almost to the point of passing by the netting. It is almost like dirt i guess. Thats why I figured I would have to vacuum it out because trying to rake it just really stirs all of it up.

Ok great. The pump and filter were emptying quickly last year then probably because of huge leaks in filter, plumbing and old gaskets on pump. I put all new gaskets on the pump and i am buying a new filter which i mentioned in the mess written up top on this post.
