I second this. I have never seen a pH test come out nearly clear.

It looks like the bottom of the ladder must have been putting too much pressure on the the liner. I'm assuming people using it to get in and out caused this. Yeah algae was definitely coming out from behind the liner. It doesn't look like the liner has too much water behind it or is floating...

The deep end is 8 feet.. I can definitely see the quarter, but there is too much disturbance in the water to tell if its heads or tails. Can you guys really make that out in deeper water?

That's really close. I had a drop of 1.5 overnight and it took about 2 more days. I just passed the OCLT after a 3.5 week slam! Keep it up, you're almost there!

Hehe, loving the cat puns. I'm assuming you're a cat owner? I have 3 myself :D As for the pool light, I tested the fixture and did not get continuity so I believe it will need replacing. It's one of the old Hayward starlight series which was from like 1972-1992 so it's definitely pretty old...

Should I start another thread on the light not working or just use this one?

I sure hope this takes care of the problem! I went ahead and bought a replacement bulb for the light and have installed it and the fixture back in its housing. I flipped the switch that we think controls the light and no luck :/

I just removed the fixture and as soon as I pulled it out of the housing, tons of green algae and gunk immediately started pouring out!! I scrubbed it out and am letting all the gunk settle so I can vacuum it up later, then will follow up with another scrubbing before reinstalling the fixture...

Interesting! Does this mean that I can change the pool light as well without draining? Would be pretty nifty to get it working. I'll try to remove that screw tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

I've vigorously scrubbed everything I can get to. This includes skimmers, steps, and all the miscellaneous cracks and crevices. Yeah if your CYA was at 0, I definitely agree that you should raise it first so you aren't wasting chlorine. Can you provide the CYA level when you get a chance to retest it?

Welcome to the forum! I'm pretty new myself, but have found that the people on here can be very helpful. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the CYA/Chlorine chart has an asterisk next to 20 on the CYA because 20 isn't a highly recommended CYA level, not that you can't SLAM at a CYA...

I performed the OCLT and my tests showed that the FC dropped about 2.5ppm overnight. I tested after sunset when it was pretty much dark last night, and again this morning when the sun was just coming up and there was definitely no direct sunlight on any of the pool. Thursday will make 3 weeks...

The water in both the shallow and deep end looks pretty much completely clear, at least as far as I can tell. I am going to go ahead and do the OCLT tonight/tomorrow morning and will post back with the results.

Yep looks like 16mm bolts, I think I can get it off. I'm about to go try. The water is actually clear enough right now that I can see to the bottom of the shallow end. I can see some dark areas where there is a build up of dead/alive algae. Would it be advisable to vacuum this stuff to waste...

Re: Super green pool & problems with pool store suggestions I may be able to take it off, though I haven't taken it off before. It gets taken off and stored when we close for winter and put back on when we have it reopened in the spring. Will update if it looks like I can remove it.

I did take a picture of the ladder steps last week. Here is that one compared to one I took today. Definitely appears to be some progress, however the first picture was right after we had a rain storm and I had brushed the sides and bottom of the pool, so I'm not sure this is the best comparison.
