    Liner defect?

I don't close, I have a VS pump and run it year round. But otherwise, FC has been between 1-4 depending on temp, CYA is a bit low but it's also not being blasted with all day sun quite yet. pH is 7.5. To your point about liner lock, I did have it installed at the time and this particular spot...

    Liner defect?

After some of the wind/weather we had this past week, I pulled the solar cover off to clean the cover and pool, and much to my surprise, this is what I find. This is recent, within the past week or two. Liner is a year old and has not been without issue. There is a corner that has slipped out...

    Pool "winterizing" versus closing

Earlier this year my 15-16 year old pool pump let out the magic smoke, and as we all know once the magic smoke is released the magic smoke does not go back in... Ergo, I had been eyeing a Circupool VS pump for a while and this was my opportunity to put it in. Thus far save for a few minor...

Circupool RJ45+ now showing no flow

Actually, about the filter, we put new sand in today. The previous owners I'm 99% sure used play sand and not near enough. Filter pressure is what I would normally expect at this flow rate. Orientation is correct. And when the pump is running at the faster speeds, the switch is made. It is not...

Circupool RJ45+ now showing no flow

Having a weird problem that Id like a sanity check on... Today my old 3/4hp pump came out and was replaced with a Circupool 1.5hp Variable. So before someone asks if something has changed in the system, that answer is yes, however the salt cell and flow switch piping were left intact...

Redoing plumbing. Story within, but considering upgrading to SWG

Noted. ;) I have always abided by the "one turnover equals crystal clear water" rule, for what its worth. Might be worth revisiting that shortly. Ill shop around for a 40k generator and see what I can find. My big current unknown is the pump. It may be fine, it may be a paperweight, and if...

Redoing plumbing. Story within, but considering upgrading to SWG

Interesting you mention the size requirements. Our pool is approx 16k gallons. I generally run the pump for 8 hours a night, and with a 25k gal generator, that might be about right? I could run it as little as 5.5 hours to turn the pool over for what thats worth.

Redoing plumbing. Story within, but considering upgrading to SWG

Didnt know which section to put this in, so it got stuck here. Long story made short, Friday evening I had a multiport valve failure. Pool apparently got pumped out as the pump ran. I have a new multiport on the way. Sand filter was replaced by previous owners and will be reused. The current...

    pH drifting up, but why?

Yep, found that right after I posted it.

    pH drifting up, but why?

Ill have the wife up the chlorine tonight when she tests (Im in Phoenix for work and could use the pool!). Is lowering TA a water changeout procedure I assume?

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

A month in, its been relatively trouble free. Water is crystal clear still. Follow up thread here: pH drifting up, but why?

    pH drifting up, but why?

This is really the first full season of owning our house with a pool. I opened it to a swamp this year, did the SLAM, got the water clear and since then, Ive used 4-5 of the Trichlor pucks in the chlorine generator and a couple pound packs of shock for chlorine, but mainly to get some CYA in the...

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

Guess I should update this now. Ive had crystal clear water for a couple of days now. Chemistry as of yesterday: FC: 3 CC: 0 CYA: 30 TA: 80 CA: 210 pH: 7.4 Couple of pictures, but I do have a stain around the drain that I cant seem to get out, any suggestions?

Raided my wife's pantyhose drawer this morning (side note, wow that sounds really bad), and put it over the skimmer end of the vacuum hose like a sock. Seems to have done the trick so far!

Yeah, I redirected them to the right last night to swirl the pool. It's in different spots today.

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

Correct, added chlorine yesterday (its been 100% sunny the past few days), tested at 10pm, tested again at 6:30am, levels were the same. So whatever I lost yesterday was probably due to sun exposure. Related question, but will increasing my CYA levels help protect it during the day? Our house is...

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

This was as good of a shot as I could get this morning before I left with the pump off: The good news is, the water is clear, no CC, and passed the OCLT. The bad news is, I vacuumed the silt/dirt to waste last night and its back. You can see it in the photo and I am at my wits end with this...

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

Vacuumed all the silt and dirt to waste tonight, as much as I could. Had no FC when I got home today. Added 2lbs of dichloride and 2 gals of 10%. I think with the all day sun I get, I simply do t have enough CYA in the water to keep the FC from oxidizing. I read no CC on the test tonight...

Yes it is. I can see the screw heads and anything on the bottom pretty clearly. The lighting is less than ideal at 6:30 in the morning. :p Ill see if I can snap something when I get home tonight thats in sunlight. Prior to adding calcium last night, it was clearer than it ever was last year when...

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

I was just about ready to call this well and good, but last night has thrown me for a loop. Last night I tested everything: FC: 8 CC: 0 TA: 60 CA: 30 CYA: 20 pH: 7.2 I threw two pounds of shock in the pool to bring the CYA back up since weve had 3+ inches of rain since Saturday and I know...

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

Well yall, we had some major storms over the weekend, so I had dad add 2 bottles of bleach yesterday, and Ive added two tonight. BUT, I was able to vacuum the deep end tonight because the water was clear. I mean like, 99% crystal clear. Knowing that, Ill shock it for one more day, gave it a good...

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

Actually, funny you should mention that, because my wife asked me the same. Now, understanding I had to buy calcium and pH adjuster (acid and base), I did the math and Im in it for about $225 total so far. Thats FAR cheaper than the $600 I was quoted to open. And even buying a gallon or two of...

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

Came home to the same conditions this afternoon, 0.5FC and 1 CC. Added three bottles of 10% to get back to shock level, and vacuumed and brushed. But yall, I can see my brush on the bottom of the shallow end. Thats a HUGE improvement over the past few days, and thats with it being overcast today.

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

Woke up this morning to 0.5 FC and 1 CC, which seems much better. Ill raise it back up to shock level and let it sit for the day and retest tonight.

Checked again just now, FC seems to be holding steady. Ill check it again before bed and adjust if needed, but hopefully it will remain high until the morning.

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

Think I broke the cycle. After 40 minutes, 6 bottles of 10% bleach, FC was 20, and CC didnt even register. I didnt add anything else and will retest in 20 minutes or so.

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

Retested pH and it took 15 drops of base demand. Ive added some pH up, but now Im extremely concerned about this. Based on my back of the napkin math, that would mean pH at or around 5, and I didnt add THAT much ph Down... Second thing I did was test CYA and FC/CC. FC: 0.5 CC 4 CYA 35 CYA...

First opening, SLAM underway, but need some advice

Yep, I will retest pH this evening. Im also concerned about it being low since chlorine SHOULD skew it high.
