Well I removed the pump from motor and found the impeller to be clear of debris. The shaft also turns easily. From what I’m finding online, the capacitor could be the issue. Any way to tell if it is bad?

It’s on a 20. Nothing else is on it. The pool is 5 years old and I haven’t had this type of problem before.

My pump was not working for two weeks while I waited for a warranty repair. I was able to keep the FC at or above 7 (CYA of 80) and the water stayed clear for about the first week. After that, the water began to turn green. I upped the FC to well above 10 and the green never really got worse...

Update... I did some troubleshooting and thought the pump was probably bad. After waiting a week, the warranty repair company came out and confirmed the pump motor needs to be replaced. Problem is, it will be another week until they will get it. The water did fine during the first week, but...

Looks like the test could have been off....I just retested with the 25ml sample and came up with FC of 8.8- 9.0.

Yeah, probably 6 hours worth of filtration. After I added the 67 oz last night, I ran the pump for about an hour on the high speed (2 speed pump). The chlorine was added in the stream of the return jet on the deep end of the pool.

Gotcha. There have a been a few times where I have had to vacuum when it was extremely dirty. By opening the valve, would it be "vacuuming to waster" and sending all that was vacuumed up directly out?

I have a Jandy 580 CV cartridge filter and recently plumbed a valve in place of the solid drain cap at the bottom of the filter. Would opening this valve while the pump is running "backwash" the filters?
