    Which issue to correct first

I haven’t stayed on top of the pool chemistry like I should have been. Tested the water today and got these results. Which issue is best to tackle first? FC .5 PH 8.2 TA 130 CH 400 CYA 25 The pool is about 25k gals with white plaster and liquid chlorinated.

2 Speed pump trips breaker on high speed

Well I removed the pump from motor and found the impeller to be clear of debris. The shaft also turns easily. From what I’m finding online, the capacitor could be the issue. Any way to tell if it is bad?

2 Speed pump trips breaker on high speed

It’s on a 20. Nothing else is on it. The pool is 5 years old and I haven’t had this type of problem before.

2 Speed pump trips breaker on high speed

Hello all, I have a jandy 2.0 SHPF 2-speed pump that started tripping the breaker on high speed. It ran for several hours yesterday on low speed but instantly shut off when switched to high. I did notice the motor was fairly hot to touch. Today, it will run on low speed but takes an...

    How long to lower TA?

Tested again tonight and TA was about 70. It took a couple weeks, but I wasn't adding MA everyday. Now to get the ring at the waterline off....

    How long to lower TA?

UPDATE So far, the TA has come down to 110. I've been adding acid when the ph gets to 7.5, bringing it down to 7.2. I have been running the pump with the return open for the 3' sheer descent for about 10 hours everyday. I noticed after not checking the ph or adding MA for two days, the ph...

    How long to lower TA?

Apparently I let my water get out of hand this winter. I tested the other day and came up with: FC 1.0 PH 8.2 TA 140 CH 550 CYA 50 Not surprising, I now have some scaling at the water line. Since then, I've gotten the PH and FC in check. I'm working on the TA with acid and aeration, but I'm...

    TA drop with CH rise?

On 07/09 I got the following results after testing: FC 17.5 (FC was high to deal with the lack of a working pump) TC 0 TA 110 CH 290 CYA 80 PH 7.5 Tested today: FC 7.0 TC 0 TA 90 CH 330 CYA 80 PH 7.8 Should I be concerned about the rise in CH and fall of the TA? I haven't added...

Pump not working. What to do while it is fixed?

My pump was recently out for over two weeks. I added about a gallon of bleach everyday and swept the walls right after. The pool stayed pretty clear for about a week. Right at the end it began to turn green. Surprisingly, after the first night of running the pump the water was crystal clear...

    lower PH first or SLAM?

Sounds like a plan. Also, are my numbers acceptable or is there something that needs adjustment after the SLAM?

    lower PH first or SLAM?

My pump was not working for two weeks while I waited for a warranty repair. I was able to keep the FC at or above 7 (CYA of 80) and the water stayed clear for about the first week. After that, the water began to turn green. I upped the FC to well above 10 and the green never really got worse...

    Pump breaker - Help

Update... I did some troubleshooting and thought the pump was probably bad. After waiting a week, the warranty repair company came out and confirmed the pump motor needs to be replaced. Problem is, it will be another week until they will get it. The water did fine during the first week, but...

    Pump breaker - Help

After getting my water dialed in with the TFP method, the equipment on my less than a year old pool has an electrical issue. Admittedly, I'm not the most electrical savvy, but this is what's going on: Came home two days ago during the time the filter pump is set to run and found it to be off...

    FC change after chlorine addition

Looks like the test could have been off....I just retested with the 25ml sample and came up with FC of 8.8- 9.0.

    FC change after chlorine addition

Yeah, probably 6 hours worth of filtration. After I added the 67 oz last night, I ran the pump for about an hour on the high speed (2 speed pump). The chlorine was added in the stream of the return jet on the deep end of the pool.

    FC change after chlorine addition

FC 11.5 CC 0 TA 110 CH 290 CYA 80 PH 7.6 Since I have gotten the pool cleared up and looking good with the TFP method, I have been testing everyday to find out how much chlorine the pool needs every day. Eventually, I want to add an automated chlorine system to the pool. I tested...

    Backwash question

Gotcha. There have a been a few times where I have had to vacuum when it was extremely dirty. By opening the valve, would it be "vacuuming to waster" and sending all that was vacuumed up directly out?

    Backwash question

I have a Jandy 580 CV cartridge filter and recently plumbed a valve in place of the solid drain cap at the bottom of the filter. Would opening this valve while the pump is running "backwash" the filters?

New Member with an algae problem

It is a plaster pool. - - - Updated - - - Yeah, I hear ya. I got all of the tabs out that I could without unbolting it from the cement. I opened the lid while the pump was on to make sure it wasn't filling up with water, and it was not. Figures I had to fill it completely just before...

New Member with an algae problem

So far, I have just closed the valve so it doesn't fill with water. I'll have to try to fish them out somehow since they stack on top of one another in a column. I will probably start with CYA at the current level. If I decide to drain some water, is there anything I need to worry about with...

New Member with an algae problem

Thanks for the reply. After adding a gallon of chlorine yesterday and again today, the green tint to the water is gone. Still have the algae on the walls though. I plan on doing the SLAM later this week when I have the time to be around the pool. Until then, I'm going to retest and add...

Ok, I got my K-2006 test kit today. Just tested and these were the results: FC 4.6 CC 0.4 PH 7.6 TA 110 CYA 80 CH 290 I'm surprised the CYA is as high as it is since the pool is only 9 months old. My pool is set up with an inline tablet chlorinator that I usually don'k keep all the...
