2 Speed pump trips breaker on high speed

Hello all,

I have a jandy 2.0 SHPF 2-speed pump that started tripping the breaker on high speed. It ran for several hours yesterday on low speed but instantly shut off when switched to high. I did notice the motor was fairly hot to touch. Today, it will run on low speed but takes an abnormally long time to prime. When I switched from low to high, it ran for a couple seconds and shut off. It also tripped the breaker, which now has gone bad. The pump is run by an Intermatic timer.
Any ideas?

What size breaker is it on? Does that breaker power anything other than the timer and pump?

It’s on a 20. Nothing else is on it. The pool is 5 years old and I haven’t had this type of problem before.

Well I removed the pump from motor and found the impeller to be clear of debris. The shaft also turns easily. From what I’m finding online, the capacitor could be the issue. Any way to tell if it is bad?
