Has anyone ever used this to increase CYA?

I'm assuming that this small amount of CYA at a time in the skimmer is pretty minimal risk to damaging anything as long as everything stays running for 24 hours after dissolving is complete? Sound right? Friendly reminder - nothing is safer than the sock method in front of the return jet :)

Has anyone ever used this to increase CYA?

Just spoke with HTH - HTH stabilizer pods are a new product for 2019. As pool season approaches, it should be more readily available at HTH retailers and available for purchase online.

Has anyone ever used this to increase CYA?

Oh cool, the HTH stabilizer granules are available on Amazon Smile again: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01JLY4QLY/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_C-3sCb07EEM8Y Not the big box price of $16 or so, but oh well. I prefer not to buy the Clorox granules for the privilege of tirelessly brushing them until they...

Has anyone ever used this to increase CYA?

I didn't know they made those pods! Thanks for sharing! HTH CYA granules always dissolved perfectly for everyone I suggested them to, even in very cold water - but may big box retalers have stopped carrying them and instead offer the inferior dissolving (in our experiences) Clorox brand cya...

Those little trees don't pose a threat to the pool, do they? Do the non-main covers attach to the main lanes cover or just float next to them?

Don't Forget About Amazon Smile and TFP...

THANK YOU Technigogo! I don't know if you're officially #1 or not (better go buy more stuff to make sure!) but we're very grateful to you and all the rest of us that use smile for TFP! I'm almost to $8! I feel like I purchased the domain name renewal for TFP! It feels great! I've got some...

    Frustrated!

Would you call it a slime? Or just gunk and stuff? When you get a chance, clean the cartridge really thoroughly then put it back in close it all back up normally, then turn the pump back on, open the air relief/vent valve/air screw to be sure you got all the air out of the system, and then...

    Frustrated!

Congratulations on getting a recommended test kit! Thanks for posting the test results! Did you perform the CC test? It is performed right after the FC test on the same water. Instructions on the same page: FAS-DPD-Chlorine-Test When the FC is over 10, the PH test is invalid - so we...

What do you all think, email the photos to the manufacturer? Or is that opening a door for a warranty invalidation due to installer failure to install correctly or something?

Have to leave newly filled pool for 6 days ...

All fine suggestions, but I'd actually go a different direction ... Stop filling when you run out of time - don't delay vacation. Skip pump and CYA. Add the calculated equivalent of 4 FC using bleach/chlorine and use brush to stir in a little. This is about a 1 minute and 30 second job...

    2018 Bleach Prices

Yes, when I was in Washington State, the best I found was Walmart when they ran a sale on their 1gal 10% in the pool/garden/bbq area for $2.50. The rest of the time, I just bought their generic 8.25% at regular price. Fred Meyers ran a sale once, but I was already stocked up. Safeway, Ace...

isipwater - Clearly you are wise enough to know TFPC is the way to go. You joined in 2015, you have a TF-100, and you know high CYA doesn't just go away on its own because you started threads in 2016 and 2017 and 2018 all about high CYA. You have fought this enough. As described above, drain...

    2018 Bleach Prices

At least in Florida - yes, Leslie's has refillable yellow 2.5 gallon jugs that you purchase and own, then can get refilled with 10-10.5% bleach for anywhere between $3-$5 depending on the current sale or regular price. We have another chain called PinchAPenny that also works this way. Many...

What did you do to your pool today?

Wow! Very eventful times at your pools! Emptied skimmer, test, acid, brushed, glanced at PSI gauge/pump basket, bleach, then loaded the empty jugs into the truck to get refilled tomorrow or Friday. So, so easy compared to my neighbor who complained about his pool service who let it go green...

Week 1 with new pool- test result opinions please

You're doing great! Yes, be sure to use the 10mL FC & CC test instructions and drop counts/multipliers to save money. You should expect the FC to fall between 1-4 ppm each day. Unless you have a pool party, urine in the pool, a lot of suntan lotion, etc - FC falling more than 4 per day...

Reminder - those pucks are adding CYA right now. Please, for your own sake, don't put any more in your pool. When was the last time you had your FC 10 or less and did a PH test? (according to an FAS-DPD test you performed yourself, and not the pool store) If your PH is out of range, your...

DeanP66's post is good. Additionally, here's how often each test should be run: https://www.troublefreepool.com/content/131-basic-pool-care-schedule But as dean said, you can do CH monthly instead of weekly as long as you stay under 300 and are not using Cal-Hypo solid shock packets as your...

    Green pool

Good question! No, this algae is from under-chlorination for your CYA level. Or, in other words, you fell below the target range, and probably below the minimum on this chart [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]. If you really do the (keep FC at your Shock/Slam level until the pool is bottled water clear -...
