Recommendations for a generic replacement for the Aquarite T-CELL-15 cell

I haven't replaced my original Hayward T-15 cell yet and we've used it for 12 summers now. I thought it had kicked the bucket a couple of years ago, but it came back to life after we did the acid soak thing. That was only the second time we had ever cleaned it with acid and we haven't done it...

Best place to buy replacement cell?

Thanks, Chris! Yes, I didn't expect it to last this long. My guess is that because our pool is <1/2 the size that it is meant to supply, maybe we got double the life out of it.

Best place to buy replacement cell?

I think ours has finally died after 10 (maybe more) years. I'm leaning toward an OEM if I can get as many years out of it as I got from the original Hayward T-15. Any recommendations for a trusted online retailer with decent pricing? Thanks!

    Froglog escape ramp

We have used them for a few years and they have significantly reduced the number of dead frogs (and other critters) we find in the skimmer basket, of course YMMV.

    New Plaster Questions

Thanks - we looked for it unsuccessfully at HD, and also didn't see it available online for our store.

    New Plaster Questions

I've been reading through posts and saw someone mention that Jack's Magic products could cause a false CC reading. I'm wondering if that is what is causing my tests to show CC levels of 1-1.5? The pool got a bottle of Jack's Purple Stuff at start-up, and has been getting a maintenance dose of...

    New Plaster Questions

Thanks! Aha, they did use pucks/sticks at start-up, which I figured would help me with CYA anyway, so that likely has helped the pH stay in line. But otherwise I've been adding bleach as need. The "Regular Clorox" unfortunately is the best I could find between Safeway, Target and Home Depot...

    New Plaster Questions

We just got new plaster 2 weeks ago, and have been testing, balancing, brushing, and vacuuming religiously. The water looks great and is crystal clear and have been pleasantly surprised that we have not had much pH rise over the last 2 weeks. I guess I expected to be adding acid daily, which...

    Water color

My pool is straight-up white plaster, no blue specks. My water is blue. I assume the same for white with blue specks.

Help with budget tile & coping selections

Just wanted to come back a year later and update with finally finished pool pictures, since I know when I was struggling through the selection process I was on a constant hunt for real-life examples. The last picture was still a little cloudy from the plaster dust, but it has cleared up well...

Renovation in progress - how picky should I be about tile work?

Thanks everyone for your help. They did come through and replace the worst tiles that were set improperly, the issue was that the edges of the tiles were not set flush with each other, and in person you could definitely see where they joints were jutting out and the grout was unsuccessfully...

    Pentair replacement parts?

Hello, My pool renovation is nearly complete, and I am wanting to replace the grids in my Pentair FNS +60 due to having some DE appearing in the pool last summer. As far as I can tell, Amazon has the best price for the 59023300, and several people comment that they wish it came with the o-rings...

Renovation in progress - how picky should I be about tile work?

Thanks, they haven't started prepping for the re-plaster yet. So far they've chipped out around the returns and other stuff in the pool. As I understand it the next step is a scratch coat, and also if they find any hollow spots they will chipout and repair. In our area, it is uncommon and...

Renovation in progress - how picky should I be about tile work?

My pool renovation is in progress, so far the coping and waterline tile has been replaced and the contractor is getting ready to re-plaster. Unfortunately, I am not thrilled with the quality of the waterline tile installation. I am not sure if I'm being overly picky about it or if my...

Anyone ordered from Pool Covers Direct?

Just following-up, I did purchase a Loop Loc replacement cover from Pool Covers Direct. It arrived as scheduled and the price was the lowest I could find. There were no issues with installation that I am aware of and it looks fine, so far no complaints here.

Anyone ordered from Pool Covers Direct?

The one comment above from last year is also the only person I've found, but I am about to order my cover. Their pricing was the best I could find, wish me luck! I'll report back either way in 2ish weeks.

I am also considering ordering a replacement Loop Loc cover from Pool Covers Direct, their pricing is the best I have found. Would love to hear if others have had positive/negative experience. Thanks!

    Faulty test kits?

Thanks! I realize that the solutions themselves are Taylor reagents, but the drops I'm getting from the TF-100 bottle are a lot smaller and come out a lot faster than the ones I get from the Taylor bottles. I'm understanding from previous replies here that could be due to static and will...

    Faulty test kits?

Thanks, good to know that the issue with the R-0009 will eventually go away, I guess I'll just have to keep using my old reagents and keep checking periodically to see if the new drops normalize? I bought the optional salt kit add-on with the TF-100, not sure why that seems to be showing salt...

    Faulty test kits?

Thanks, I did follow the instructions to wipe with a damp paper towel which came with the kit but still had problems with the too small/too fast drops. I think that plus the experience with the salt test have made me a bit wary of my home testing results.

    Faulty test kits?

In years past I've used the Taylor K-2005 and K-2006 without issue, but this year I bought a new TF-100 kit for something different. For the last month since opening, my TA tested using the K-2006 was running in the 100-110 area, and from time to time when I have to pick up something at the...

Help - first time doing this ourselves

Thanks, that is what we did. I was hoping to avoid backwashing as I've been adding stabilizer over the past week but it had to be done. The Polaris hose filter is clean, but I think the hose needs to be replaced, so that could be the problem. On a side note, after vacuuming the pool floor was...

Help - first time doing this ourselves

Any advice before I attempt to vacuum? I guess I'll end up backwashing again after vacuum and will have to add more stabilizer and DE? I wish I could get the Polaris working, but maybe it is just old and no longer effective?
