    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club Thanks for the clarification. I'm trying to decide what I'm gonna do. I really like all the great feedback from the Discovery. I have a rectangular pool with entry steps and that's it, no other special features. In your opinion, do...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club This Nautilus looks similar to the Discovery. Is it the one that's a twin? Or is it the more expensive Nautilus Plus with Clever Clean? http://www.amazon.com/Dolphin-99996323-Nautilus-Robotic-Cleaner/dp/B01N78IVWJ?th=1. I see...

    White water mold

Thanks for the response! I'll just be ready to jump on a SLAM as soon as I open.

    White water mold

I bought my way into a pool last summer and started out using the TFP method and had a pretty good summer. I closed the pool myself at the end of last season and I think I did everything I was supposed to. It's a warm day here and I decided that I would have a look at the water so I pulled...

    pH Level for SLAM'ing

Thanks for the replies! It sounds like it doesn't adversely affect the actual process of killing the algae unless the pH gets really high, but could impact the clarity of the water or cause staining.

    pH Level for SLAM'ing

I have a question about pH level for SLAM'ing. I know pool school calls for a pH between 7.2 and 7.5 before starting the process. How does a higher pH (7.8 for instance) affect the SLAM process?

    Dirt/Debris/Dead Algae Daily

Sorry, I forgot to add that I do currently add DE to the filter. But thanks for the reply, it does help to see that I'm not the only one! I'm currently looking for a robot as well to help out with this.

    Dirt/Debris/Dead Algae Daily

Ok here's the deal. Nearly every day I have an accumulation of dull green to brownish debris on the bottom of my pool. I vacuum it all up and it starts accumulating again. When stirred up it poofs into clouds. The water is otherwise crystal clear. I have been seeing this for at least a...

    pH just shot up

Thanks for the responses! I'm gonna head to Lowes and pick up some muriatic acid because I don't have any on hand. I'll wait to add it until my FC drops further to be more accurate. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

    pH just shot up

I've got a situation that I can't figure out. This is my first summer with a pool and using the TFPC method. So far I've been able to keep my pH consistent for the last couple months with little maintenance. It always slowing drops and I add borax from time to time to raise it, it's never...

    Algae in pool

Re: Algae Bloom The pool is clear in the shallow end and has a slight green tint in the deep end. I can still see the main drain in the deep end though. I was only considering using the cover so that my FC loss wouldn't be as high each day, but I see what you're saying. I bought some pucks...

    Algae in pool

If I have a sand filter can I just leave it on filter mode? Or is recirculate the best when slamming and if I'm going out of town?

    Algae in pool

Should I load the floaters full of tablets? I guess that would be best cause I can always take whatever is left over out when I get back. Shouldn't raise my CYA too much.

    Algae in pool

I have been following the methods described on this site since I opened my new pool the first of May. I've had no problems at all maintaining crystal clear water, that is until today. I just took the solar cover off and found a lot of algae in the pool. The cover was put on Sunday evening and...

    Replacement motor or new pump?

I can post a pic and better info on the motor in a couple hours when I get home. I only know that the previous owner told me that the pump got that loud about 2 years ago, so apparently it was running quieter before that.

    Replacement motor or new pump?

I don't know if the noise is coming from the motor or the wet end so I guess the best route would be to replace the whole thing, plus given it's age maybe that's the best route anyway. I can check the motor when I get home from work today and see about the wiring.

    Replacement motor or new pump?

I recently bought a house with a pool. The pump/motor is a 1.5 HP AO smith centurion single speed pump and it is really loud when running, and I've noticed that my neighbor has a pump and pool about the same size as mine with a super quiet pump/motor. There is no screeching or anything that...

    First Time

Ok so after my partial drain and refill here are my new numbers. pH = 7.2 FC = 6 ppm CC = 1 ppm CYA = 50 ppm TA = 90 I ran the pool calculator and added 2/3 of the recommended borax to get my pH higher. When the previous owner helped me open the pool this past Sunday I added 1 gallon of 12.5%...

    First Time

I drained roughly 6k gallons of water out of the pool this evening, which is only about a quarter and I'm refilling now. I didn't want to drain it too much for fear of anything detrimental happening to the liner. I'm going to test my CYA again tomorrow and see where I'm at and then I'll give...

Thanks for the responses! I'll try the dilution method this evening when I get home. And I should be able to use that to determine how much water to replace, correct?

    First Time

Hello, I'm a first time pool owner and just opened my pool today. The water is a little on the cloudy side. I ran all the test available in my TF-100 test kit and the results are: pH - 7.2 Cl - 5, Br - 10 FC - 8 ppm CC - 1 ppm CH - 150 ppm TA - 90 CYA - 100 From reading the forums it appears...
