My wife have been talking about that. We are about an hour from Yosemite National Park, 30 minutes from Snow skiing and right in the middle of Gold Country.

I built an exterior plywood bar top and then bought sheet copper. I bent and hammered the sheet copper around the bar top and then hand hammered the copper. It is not protected and will patina, it has started too already. It's under the patio so it doesn't get too hot. It is hammered but does...

Thanks for all the encouraging words. This weekend I built this copper bar top and seating area that overlooks the pool. Wrapped the copper and then hand hammered it. It will patina with age.

So, I thought I would post a cost breakdown so I could show what it cost to do something like this with your own labor. Keep in mind, I already had the hole and I reused the old concrete pad with lots of patchwork. New Medallion Freedom 24 foot round pool with filter and walk in steps...

You guys are too kind. It was a tough project. The dirt was so hard and compacted that you could not use a shovel. I used an electric jackhammer everywhere I couldn't get with the excavator. The medallion pool is great. It is well built and relatively easy, albeit time consuming, to build. The...

Finished painting this morning, other than a few small details, this project is done. A ton of hard work and 14 months later the transformation is complete. I'm ecstatic!!

The temp is why I did it. Nice and cool even when it's 102 outside. I'm thinking the whole job is going to take about 17-20 gallons.

Completed two more sections of concrete. Only one more left and then onto painting. Hard to work in the heat (100 degrees) when you can just jump in and swim instead. [emoji16]

So here is the first color test. This is called linen, it is off white. I am tired of gray and want to see if this color is less hot on the feet. What do you think?

Thats part of the reason I did it all myself. It is much cheaper and I can be as picky as I want to be. It may not be perfect but I'm very happy with the results. As far as keeping stuff out of the pool, I work slowly and carefully, still get a little concrete and stuff in the pool but then I...

So here is where we are now. All the fill in is done. I have formed the last three sections and hope to pour them this week.

Thanks for the nice compliments. It was definitely a labor of love. It was way more difficult than I thought it would be but totally worth it now. We are still in the finish up phase so it will change for the better over the summer. I will post more pics as we complete things.

So here is how it looks today. Replaced almost all of the pressure treated dividers, finished concrete on one side and remounted slide, will work on the other side this week. Still have to pour new concrete around the back of the pool and then repaint the entire concrete surface so it will...

Well after fretting about having somebody do this and how much it will cost, I decided..........to do it myself. Did some research on concrete pouring 101 and gave it a shot. Have 5 sections poured so far and it is turning out pretty good. To make things even better, my buddy just brought...

There is some steel left sticking out of the concrete. I left this on purpose thinking they might be useful to tie the two slabs together. I will be contacting a concrete guy and will let you guys know what he tells me.

Ok peeps, spring is coming and I have a few questions. Any of you concrete guys out there please chime in and help me out. I really don't want to break out all of the concrete is their. Do you think it is viable to pour new cement to fill in the gap? It does not have to look perfect because...

Backyard has an eight foot fence. Had to put it up to keep the deer out of the pool. Pulled two out of the last pool before I built the fence. It has a drain panel running the length in the center. I just keep my skimmer line open. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I back-filled with the dirt that I dug out. I will let it settle all winter and then pour concrete next spring. Doesn't appear to be any leaks anywhere.
