I did not have any issues. I filled my pool just below the skimmer opening so it could stretch properly, then I cut in the square hole. I've done this on 2 pools so far. Just take your time.

Same here, installed a Hayward skimmer, but I actually used one of the outlet lines as the new inlet since it sits lower in the water than the original inlet line. So I end up plugging the second outlet, and the original inlet.

I stand corrected, I was able to drill between the stitching and still keep skimmer flush with wall.

Just an FYI, I was going to do just that, drill between the stitching, but the problem is that then the skimmer itself will not sit flush against the pool wall, it will be at an angle due to the slope of the wall going around the top brace, so I tested mine prior to marking the holes, and I went...
