Wouldn't body weight going up the ladder just bend it back if I bent the legs? My other though is because the ladders were inset 3 inches or so into the ground now that they are above ground would it be to my benefit to cut approximately 3" off each side?

As you can see the holes are the sleeves the previous owner installed when pouring the deck. I installed the white top mount ones. The ladder now sits on the wall but still bounces causing it to rub a bit on the liner.

Nope I meant 1/2 foot. He mounted the sleeves about 4” from the pool edge! - - - Updated - - - im not sure what you mean exactly
