    filtering Iron/metal out of water

$500 bucks really isn't bad considering the headache of dealing with metals in the water. This may be worth the consideration for well users.

    At my wits end!

Sequestrant needs to be continually added in order for it to do its job. Unfortunately it's like a revolving door which is why it's better to take preventative measures to try to ensure metals don't get into your pool. I'm sure the experts will be a long to help you with your other issues...

    Fiberglass Pool Build Southeast PA

Kind of good news I guess. I think I am going to take up some pavers I have on the front and side of the house to add another 3 or 4 feet on the 35' side. Supposedly the inspector doesn't measure down to the exact sq. ft. so I should be good to go. Apparently this is a new issue that has been...

    Fiberglass Pool Build Southeast PA

Found out today I am good to go with 3 feet all the way around and a VERY small path from the house to the pool. Still no deck for lounging . I may have to see where I could gain some surface area for atleast a 10x10 deck.

    Fiberglass Pool Build Southeast PA

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys. I was told I can go through some type of appeals process where I have to let all of the neighbors know within a certain distance of my house and then go to some type of hearing or something for an exception. It sounds like a long and drawn out process...

    Fiberglass Pool Build Southeast PA

I'm still waiting to hear back from the PB but as of right now it doesn't sound like it. What has been suggested to me is take up some of my "impervious surface" that I already have to make room for the future impervious surface that will go down once the pool is installed.

    Fiberglass Pool Build Southeast PA

Just wanted to update and ask a question. My permits are pretty much done, but I think I'm going to wait until Aprilish to do the install. I found out that there are impervious surface restrictions. In other words, I may not be able to have any decking, and 3 feet around the pool may be a...

What do YOU use automation for?

I'm back on the fence regarding the issue...I just got off of the phone with Hayward and there is a lot of other items that need to be purchased besides the actual automation. As a matter of fact all of their automation devices need to have a separate antenna purchased in order to use them...

What do YOU use automation for?

I totally understand where you're coming from. There are no simple solutions for the bells and whistles. I just found out with Hayward along with the automation system, an antenna, and also another system for remote connectivity (depending on the system) is needed. Then depending what you are...

How many relays do I need (automationl

I'm going to subscribe here as I pretty much need some of the same questions answered. Hopefully someone will chime in soon.

What do YOU use automation for?

Thanks for your reply...I am seeing that automation really isn't a necessity, but it makes having a pool much more convenient and easier. I have been pretty much convinced I want to go with some type of automation, but all of the options and specs seem to be very confusing and it's hard to get...

What do YOU use automation for?

I am still very much on the fence after reading your post, although Patrick almost had me convinced, lol. It may come down to whether I value convenience or another tangible item more. This seems pretty cool although I'm not sure how easy it would be to sync with the pool equipment. I know...

Glad to hear your build is going well Jamie...you're getting some great advice. I've learned a lot from your build.

What do YOU use automation for?

Sounds like having more features really makes it worth it. Essentially it's a master remote control so I wouldn't have to go to the pad to switch settings.

What do YOU use automation for?

I've been reading up on automation and am trying to justify the price of investing. I don't think I'm going with a vs pump and won't have an attached spa. Sure I'll have a heater, but I assume I will be home when I decide I want to heat the pool for a swim. I would like to know what YOU use...

    Fiberglass Pool Build Southeast PA

Aha! I wonder if there are any robots that specialize in climbing curved walls. I was checking out Dolphins Active videos on Youtube and all of the pools have straight walls. I haven't priced out the difference in the cell sizes but if its only $100 no need to consider the T-9 although I'm...

    Fiberglass Pool Build Southeast PA

I certainly will. I am following your build as well. I'm not sure I'd have the nerves for gunite, lol. Your pool is going to be fabulous. Keep up the good work and in a couple of months you will see the fruit of your labor. What thorough methods of filtration are you referring to? In...

    Fiberglass Pool Build Southeast PA

The 325 sq. ft. cartridge should certainly be more than enough but the 425 even better. In the rare occurrence of an algae break I wonder if it would make a big difference between the two being that they are cartridge filters. I get the impression they are a PITA regardless of what size you...

    Fiberglass Pool Build Southeast PA

It sounds like many issues with pools end up having to do with the installation. I am confident I found the right PB. Alot of it may come down to are the contractors having a good day or not lol.

    Fiberglass Pool Build Southeast PA

Thanks for the advice. I have seen some of the nightmare threads on TFP and was assured by the PB they use lasers to ensure the pool is level. I believe the new FG pool standard is half inch from one side to the other. Many builders also rant about using gravel over sand to prevent settling...

    Fiberglass Pool Build Southeast PA

Yes there is a slope in the yard. I was already told they will have to regrade my yard about 1-2 feet in some areas so I can kiss my grass goodbye, lol. They said during the process people are always going nuts because it looks like they are just tearing up the yard. In the end I will end up...

I like the benches a lot as well. I was a bit surprised at first when I learned I would be able to get that option with FG. Like anything else, technology just continues to improve overtime. I am certainly going to order the TF-100. I have read the reagents expire after about a year or two...

    Fiberglass Pool Build Southeast PA

Thanks JamieP. I certainly feel outnumbered watching all of the gunite threads including yours :p. Fiberglass seems to be more prominent around this area although there are some gunite pools. Hopefully this thread can give others some more insight on FG builds that isn't already covered.
