Anyone heard of Ikeric and Hybrid-Pumps pump makers?

ttmatsu, My 1.5" copper plumping to and from the pool (2" pvc everywhere else above ground) has quite a number of 90's if I include the solar heater. Assuming I'm also getting no more than 30gmp, that means I should run it for 8.5 hours to at least get one turn over of my 15,000 pool? Hybrid...

Anyone heard of Ikeric and Hybrid-Pumps pump makers?

ttmatsu, Thx for your generous PM reply and thoughts on the Hybrid. I have to confess, I jumped the gun and had their X2 installed just yesterday! Your recommendation to first speak to Bruce @ PST for his take and prices came just a day too late and may have saved me some and given a TFP member...

Wny I never get to use two B's of the BBB method

Thought I'd give you all an update and say "thank you!" I shocked the pool. Backwashed. No sign of algae and water is now crystal clear. I added 2.5 lbs of CYA granules to try to bring it up from 20 to 40. I'll wait a few days to let it disolve before testing. I was able to bring my TA down...

Recommendations for new energy efficient pump

ttmatsu, On another recent post you were also looking at a Hybrid X2 for yourself, "Well Scott, the guy that handles my pool repairs also said not to get the Hayward so I am down to the VF or the Hybrid X2." Did you decide? A rep for the company, who is a pool guy in their Carlsbad area, is...

Recommendations for new energy efficient pump

ttmatsu, yeah, I got my reality check after posting my Q and then looking at prices online. I'm willing to pay the $1500 as I know it's a long term investment but I just didn't know enough and so was skeptical of spending that amount. So I'll start shopping for jandy or Pentair. Thx for your...

Anyone heard of Ikeric and Hybrid-Pumps pump makers?

Anyone ever heard of Ikeric (from Bakersfield, CA) and Hybrid-Pumps LLC (Carlsbad, CA)? They are both on SoCal Edison's qualifying list of energy efficient pump makers but I can't find anything on them and their web sites look questionable (http://www.ikeric.com, http://www.hybridpumps.com)...

Wny I never get to use two B's of the BBB method

um, is there a preferred method of shock here at TFP? I read somewhere that I should be shocking every other week on a regular basis, and even weekly during summer and after heavy use. Is that necessary? Peter

Wny I never get to use two B's of the BBB method

Thx guys, I guess if I'm staring at green patches along one side of my pool, I should by-pass the overnight loss test and proceed with shock treatment. P

Wny I never get to use two B's of the BBB method

Also, on the bit of algae that's now forming, will it die away with FC upkeep, or do I need to shock or treat with algecide? Thx Peter T

Wny I never get to use two B's of the BBB method

"You should do an overnight FC loss test to rule out whether shocking is necessary (if the CC is not higher than .5)" Thx FPM, but can you expound on that--about the overnight loss? What am I looking for? Got it on the FC...I need to keep it up religously, and above minimum. P.

Wny I never get to use two B's of the BBB method

Thx for the many and quick replies! Don't you guys have anything better to do? Obvious you're all graduates of the same school. OK, let's see...what have I learned? 1. Lower my TA to help maintain pH 2. Test and maintain FC and pH levels more frequently (I'll keep to daily for now) for...

Recommendations for new energy efficient pump

thx Mark for quick reply, My solar heater runs up my patio, which is about 8-9 feet high, about 20 feet from the pool, with two returns. What about VARIABLE speed pumps? I've been seeing advertised savings of $1500-$2000 per year on electric cost if I go with variable pumps, and 30-40% more...

Wny I never get to use two B's of the BBB method

I probably not doing things right :hammer: I’ve been using the BBB method on my 15k gal pool for 10 months now, and all my tests ever tell me is that I need bleach, and about one a week or two muriatic acid to lower the PH. Am using the TF test kit and my average readings are: PH: 7.5 TA...

Recommendations for new energy efficient pump

Maybe you guys have covered this already in another post, but I want to replace my old pump to take advantage of SCEdison's $200 rebate for more efficient pump. I have 15k pool, solar heated, no spa, full sun all day. What HP do I need but more importantly, WHICH ONE? SCE gave a long list of...

What just happened? Pump running without suctioning

Well, I got it going again by waiting a bit and switching pump on/off a couple times. Maybe someone can explain what might have happened?

What just happened? Pump running without suctioning

PLS HELP! My pump/filter was running just fine but when I went to put in my hose to vacuum, and the pressure suddenly dropped to zero and all suctioning from intake just stopped. What just happened?? This is my first time doing this since switching to doing it myself rather than pool guy. All I...

    New convert

I went home during lunch and took readings. Having added the recommended BBB last nite, I see FC improved yet pH went up to 8 and T/A to 130—those aren’t too high right? CH and CYA not as bad as first read but still high—I didn’t swirl for 30 secs b/t drops as FPM suggested—guess...

    New convert

Thx for quick replies. I'm an accidental first time pool owner--kinda came with new home we just moved into in Buena Park CA—we bought it for the roomy yard—but our 6 kids are really enjoying it. Pool is 15k gal inground plaster with a solar heating and Pentair FNS36 DE filter. Currently...

    New convert

Hi all, I'm a new owner of a 15,000 gallon solar heated pool. After reading your posts I've decided to say good bye to the pool man, buy the TF100 kit, stock up with some BBB and am ready to be baptized into the system. Obviously I need help determining what/how much BBB if any I need to add...
