    CYA test confusion

My apolagies for creating confusion with this tread I thought it would need a new one. I will stop using this one. Is it ok to go back to the my previous thread? But just to clarify... I have seen the CYA videos and read the instructions it's just the variation in the results that had me...

    CYA test confusion

Hi duraleigh sorry, here "buffer" is the common name for sodium bicarbonate. I was aiming for a TA of 70 as it was down from 20 last week my SWG hasn't generated any FC in the last 2 days and it's dropped from 9.5 to 6 so I don't won't it to drop less than 5. It will be a sunny day tomorrow so I...

    CYA test confusion

Hi Jezza i test the CYA both ways. I do it several times reusing the solution and also get some one else to test. I only test on bright sunny days as the results vary dramatically if cloudy. I will test again tomorrow and check FC and CC for any overnight changes. Since the SLAM the algae has...

    CYA test confusion

Hi Everyone i have just finished the SLAM and ready to balance the water. I had trouble with determining the CYA with the SLAM and erred on the higher value. I'm retesting and get values between 50-80 and it's driving me mad. If I had to pick a number I would say 60 or 70. My FC is down to 6 so...

    Green is back, help!

I left the pool as I finished the SLAM. I got my brother to check the pool when he could and do a FC each time. I also set the filter for 10hrs a day on high speed (usually 8hrs). Instructed him to brush when he could. It looked good when I got back. FC had dropped below my target 2 days before...

    Green is back, help!

Hi Crmdgnly Ive been away for 2 weeks and just saw your question. I Have found Nicole from Clear Choice Labs (CCL )great to deal with, very helpful. I have the Chlorine and CYA test kits. The chlorine test only does a 10ml sample and uses 0.5ppm increments. I suppose you can do a 25ml sample and...

    What is a plaster pool?

Hi I have a question to clarify what you define as a plaster inground pool. Just checking the translation between USA and Australia. I have a concrete inground pool that is fully tiled with glass tiles. Is this a plaster pool? I ask as I would like to determine what my TA and CH should be. Thanks

    Green is back, help!

Thanks Kim Water looks good, no green when brushed today ( yesterday cleaned lights). Running filtration 24/7 and flushing solar heating and brushing and cleaning with dolphin robot. Question, I have trouble determining the CYA end point. I get a range of 50-70 with same sample so is it better...

    Green is back, help!

Ok Jezza. I've contacted Waterco and they have recommended an electrician or pool builder. I'm waiting for pool builder to get back to me. As the pool is less than 12 months old I want to make sure I don't void warranty if I do it. It's not ideal but I want to check with him. Finally got notice...

    Green is back, help!

Ok. I've got this image that water will get in the back of light cavity and cause problem. I have 'Britestream multicoloured LED niche light" and if someone can tell me it's ok to remove whilst under water I will do it. Otherwise I will need to call Waterco . Sorry just being cautious but very...

    Green is back, help!

So you are saying that I can unscrew light fittings whilst underwater? I got confused the return jets are at same level as lights but cannot see how to remove fitting [/URL]

    Green is back, help!

The lights sit about 400mm below water line so I should be able drain water for that. I'm assuming it's a matter of unscrewing light fitting, is there usually any silicone or water seal to worry about? as for return vents they are low and would require most of pool to be emptied!!!

    Green is back, help!

No I haven't taken the lights out , it might be done as a last resort as I'm about to re commence the SLAM. I have added liq chlorine today to raise FC for SLAM. Because I have difficulty in determining the end point of the CYA test I'm thinking tomorrow morning I will do a vacuum to waste to...

    Green is back, help!

Thanks Kim. I thought I had brushed everywhere in particular the areas you suggest. I agree with you I must have missed it somewhere. I will do a OCLT just to get FC loss. Tomorrow will raise FC to SLAM level and see how it goes.

    Green is back, help!

Hi Jezza No chlorine added, SWG off. When I brush the wall I got a swirl of green through the brush head. I may not be able to do OCLT tonight but thanks for the good suggestion.

    SLAM now or wait

Hi SpaceApe I'm using the Clear Choice Labs test kit. The full kit is now available but last week it wasn't so CCLabs gave me their Taylor's viewing and mixing tubes and I bought the CYA refill bottle so that way I could do my SLAM which was really nice of CCLabs. CCLabs are due to release the...

    Aussie test kits and hello

I'm new to the forum and happy to follow the TFP method with self testing with a reliable test kit. As I began to search for kits in Australia I was very frustrated to find one company have the Taylor's kit k-2006 at AUS$125 (which was a reasonable price compared to ordering from US) but out of...

    SLAM now or wait

Will try to just over shoot. Will see what happens overnight. Im only using the chlorine and cya kits from CClabs. I did notice same thing about ph kit. I have a ph probe on my controller and am using my waterco kit to measure ph,TA for now. Any way for now ph accuracy is dubious at high FC

    SLAM now or wait

Hi I am new and last week I introduced myself as having a small but daily algae problem. I have ordered the K-2006c kit from the USA and still waiting.
