    Order of operations

Not replace SWG this season hence going back to LC and lower CYA/drain/refill (also pie CYA got out of control while on an extended vacation and having a service handle since they used pucks & shock and the CYA was already high from when we formerly had been salt😩) Yes, I’m confident in all of...

    Replace motor or whole pump?

And where are you finding a date? And so specific??🤯

    Replace motor or whole pump?

The original motor was replaced with that Century in March 2017, so that sounds about right, I just don't know when the Hayward pump was installed since it was here when we moved in. Could it outlive 2 motor replacements? Is that normal? Or are we throwing good money after bad? Or if we did...

    Replace motor or whole pump?

Our waterfall pump - Hayward 1.5hp Super Pump of unknown age - has stopped working and we've been told the motor needs to be replaced. Because I don't know the age or how much life is left, I'm torn between doing that or just replacing the whole thing. Quick backstory: I'm not sure how old the...

    Order of operations

Had to do a partial refill to lower CYA after our SWG broke and we decided to pause on fixing and go back to LC for the rest of the season. Didn't quite get CYA where I wanted to be (have never done a drain/refill before - took a LOOOOOONG time!!), but these are my current levels, so...

    We need to drain...how??

We need to lower CYA after a long vacation now that we're no longer using our salt cell, but all the markings on our valves have been "Northeastern Winter" washed away - We've never lowered, certainly never by the FEET required to bring us in-range which is below skimmer. The valves we've tried...

    Recurring algae, high phosphates

I'm ready to drain & refill (or maybe just fill in:mad:) I can't figure out what is happening. I thought it was mustard algae, so I did that version of SLAM, passed all the hurdles, then kept my FC 8-10. Everything was fine, until I woke up one morning and it was 5. Then the mustard spots...

    Cant get rid of CC

Solved! I just washed out my cylinder with bleach, and not only did it get rid of that dark overcast residue, but I retested and my FC level is still the same (actually 1 drop higher?) but the CC was 0, or maaaaybe 1 drop needed if I stare really hard. I’ve never heard of needing to rinse out...

    Cant get rid of CC

With a CYA of 40 my SLAM level should be 16. My current FC is above that at 17 and I still have CC. So what now? Should I slam at a 50 CYA level since that test can be difficult to read?

    Cant get rid of CC

I've done so much testing but if I'm recalling, yes I think it has always been at 1, not higher or lower. So I'll SLAM again - regular level or elevated mustard level? Should I do it now (9am) or wait till evening to lose less chlorine?

    Cant get rid of CC

We had a mustard algae outbreak last weekend which I treated with the SLAM/Mustard SLAM process (so much brushing!) Everything looks clear, and we passed the ONCL test last night/this morning...but I can't get rid of the CC. Do I just need to give it more time or do I need to spike my levels...

Actually DON'T think it's algae but..

We have what appears to be yellow dust ont he bottom of some spots of our pool. We don't notice it until we brush - sometimes it look slike just dust and sometimes it definitely has a yellow tone. We passed the ONCL test twice in a row (last one was 16 drops at sundown, 15 at sun up, but that...

Should I replace power supply or entire Dolphin (5yrs)

We got our Dolphin Nautilus in 2017. We left it out while we were away this weekend, and the control unit took on a lot of water and no longer works. Should I replace just the power unit ($300) or buy an entirely new Dolphin? Ths is our 1st one, so I'm not sure the lifespan and don't want to...

Advice for how/when to run salt cell & filter

I guess the idea of stagnant water is troubling to me? I always thought it needed to move a little to keep things circulated every so often (more than just upon introduction), not turn-over persay, but just as I guess I little "freshing up". So in theory if there's no need to skim debris - a...

Advice for how/when to run salt cell & filter

It was my understanding that it is best practice to filter water and keep it moving in general - even those w/o a salt cell to worry about have min amounts they must move their water (we converted to salt and used to be one of those LC pool owners - we ran our pump more than just to skim or to...

Advice for how/when to run salt cell & filter

We must run on high several times per day or our pool becomes almost covered in debris. It looks like a marsh. 24/7 low isn't an option, and 24/7 high is unnecessary. We took a screenshot of what we did last year (ScreenLogic app)...and now can't find it, so I'm trying to recall what we did and...

Advice for how/when to run salt cell & filter

With the warmer weather finally, we are ready to switch from LC to turning on our salt cell. We have a 30k gal pool surrounded by tons of trees. Every year we struggle with the best plan of when to run our VS pump on high or low (and what RPM those should be) and which setting to have producing...

Bubbles from all returns & in all baskets

We've had tiny bubbles coming from all returns (including spa jets when off) for a few weeks now. There are tons of bubbles in the pump basket and the basket just before the SWG as well. The pool guy that came out to reinstall the wall grates said it was either a leak somewhere or the pump isn't...

    What order to address?

Current levels after clearing opening algae. What order should I adjust? NOTE: due to water temps we are working as a traditional pool w LC for the next few weeks before our salt cell will make chlorine. FC: 5 CC: 0 pH: 7.0 TA: 40 CH: 225 CYA: 90 I'm thinking I should get to these levels but...
