    Organic stains on stairs

Apologies is this is the wrong forum, but it seemed the most relevant. A while back someone recommended using vitamin C to remove these and it worked. Is there something I can buy in bulk at Walmart or a grocery store to scrub these? Kids are away for the weekend so it’s a good chance to hop...

    Testing questions: CH and Alkalinity

Good afternoon, Do I need to test CH in a vinyl pool on a regular basis? As you can see in my logs, the numbers aren’t crazy. Additionally, do I need to test alkalinity if my PH is in line? It’s been staying pretty level about 7.5 recently. I’ll likely test alkalinity periodically, but...

I want to upgrade my SWCG - what work is needed?

I currently have a terribly undersized Jandy. I’m in middle Georgia and my pool gets about eight hours of solid sun per day. The RJ60 was recommended. Do I need a professional to install this? An earlier comment confirmed I have 230v electrical. Would any electrical work be needed or is this a...

    Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus error

Our power supply is lighting up blue and then turning off after a few seconds. We’ve tried unplugging the power and reseating the cable. Has anyone experienced this? It’s happening after an extended power outage from Helene. Thanks in advance.

Shopping for new SWCG and looking for advice

Good evening, I am in the market for a new SWCG. Our current one simply isn’t cutting it and I’m tired of adding liquid on a regular basis to supplement. Our pool is 18x36 with a three person swim out and approximately 28,000 gallons. I am In middle GA, and our pool gets about eight hours of...

Life of salt cell at 100%

Good evening, I’ve learned here that my salt cell is undersized for my pool. I supplement with liquid chlorine twice weekly during the summer. In addition, I run it at 100% for 12 hours daily. I’ve read there that running at 100% can dramatically reduce the cells life. We’re two summers in...

    Taylor vs TFT ph comparator

Both sets of instructions for these sets indicate five drops of the reagent. However, the Taylor comparator is 44ml and the TFT one is much smaller. Does that matter? Thanks in advance.

    Dolphin Skimmi

Cool decking - is the cooling in the material, paint, or both?

Ours still gets a little warm. I feel like it could use another coat of the color to get just right on appearance. However, I’m not sure I want to bother if it doesn’t help with the cooling. What say you?

I have mine from the K2006. Will that work?

Add chlorine floater to undersized salt cell?

What do you think about this approach? A gallon of liquid per week has been working in the past. Would it be better to continue doing that?

First winter with open pool - what % for SWCG?

Now that my water temp is in the 50s, is there a benefit to turning my SWCG down to 10% for preserving life? Mine is undersized, so it runs at 100% otherwise.

    Oddball idea for skimmer baskets

Has anyone ever tried tying something like a fishing line on a washer through the hole on the skimmer lid to have the basket come up with the lid? I realize this is an odd question, but we keep our pool open year round, and this would really simplify those daily skimmer cleans. Thanks in advance!

    Brown steps - any advice?

Some brief research indicates iron, but we are on city water. Am I misunderstanding, or is that normally a well water problem? Test results are available in pool math. FC is low, but everything else seems reasonable.

Request for assistance with winter pool maintenance

Good afternoon! I intend to keep my pool open this winter. It is our first winter with a pool. I live in middle Georgia, so the weather rarely goes to freezing. I slacked on testing my water for a bit, and I need to increase ph a little but I am good otherwise. Can I use this to increase ph...

Adding MA to water - is grabbing water from the pool a bad idea?

It never occurred to me that this might be an issue, but I’ve seen several articles today that suggest it is a bad idea. What is the opinion of the brain trust? EDIT bad word choice, filling my bucket from the pool then adding acid to that.

Anyway to prevent my Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus from getting stuck here?

It tends to get stuck between the “floor” area and the seat, raised at a 45* angle. Has anyone else ever had a situation like this? It may just be that my seat is the perfect size to create the issue, but I thought it was worth checking.

Week long vacation coming up - ok to run pump and SWCG continuously?

I am in middle GA, so it’s HOT. Will that stress the pump and SWCG to run continuously? My salt cell is undersized, so I am doing this to maintain FC levels. I also plan on raising levels with liquid chlorine in advance.

Old bottles of bleach - useless or helpful?

Great Value Bleach, 81 fl oz Great Value Bleach, 81 fl oz - Walmart.com We have a few bottles of this in our garage that are a couple years old. It’s 7.5%, so lower than usually recommended. Is it worth using in the pool or just pouring down the sink? We’re trying to clear some space. Thanks...

Is this enough disturbance to aerate and increase PH?

https://share.icloud.com/photos/0d60gvVDya6FqKmf4_pzmXn6Q I know iCloud links aren’t preferred, but I don’t believe the site will let me upload a video. I’ve also included a still for anyone who might not want to view the video.

Low pressure on sand filter troubleshooting

I’m currently running at 6 psi, normal operation is 12. I’m seeing flow through the salt cell, and the pump basket is clear. I’m getting reasonable pressure from the jets. What should I troubleshoot to see where a problem might be?

    Thoughts on these test results?

https://troublefreepool.com/mypool/vlPL0Ym In previous threads, I was recommended to run our SWG more often. What I decided to do is to run it 36 hours. Day, night, day. Then I stopped running at night and only run during the day for 12 hours. My thought process was that this would increase...

Do you leave your cleaner in the water? Do you cover it when out of the water?

What are your thoughts on this? I’ve been removing my Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus, but leaving it uncovered on the pool deck.

    Thoughts on these test results?

https://troublefreepool.com/mypool/vlPL0Ym My salt is likely fine, the drop test was probably a little unscientific today because I was in a hurry. PH was around 8 last week, so I worked to bring that down. If I recall, that brings alkalinity up. With a SWG, I expect the PH to work its way up...

    Pre-vacation pool prep

Good morning, We opened our pool this year after a new install, so I am still learning somewhat. We tend to take several trips during the summer. On our first trip, I returned to a minor algae outbreak, which I cleared up overnight with brushing, extended run time, and shock. I realize that...

Is this debris from a windy day or something concerning?

This is currently sitting on the top of the water all over the pool. Everything else is clear and test results were reasonable on Friday. I added a little bit of liquid CYA and some calcium hardness increaser on Friday. I also added some sodium bicarbonate.
