Ways to protect the pump from low water level if the skimmer has one hole.

The skimmer on my inground pool has one hole, so a float valve, commonly used on skimmers with two holes, would not apply. Other than maintaing the proper water level, what are the ways to protect the pump from air getting in the skimmer piping from low water level?

Single Speed Pumps vs Variable Speed Pumps

It's been said that you can save money by switching your single speed pump with a variable speed one. According to this attached YouTube video, it ain't so. Has anyone on this board done the actual calculation to prove this? If so, please provide the detailed calculation (and the proof)...

How do I get rid of this brown stain?

There's a line of brown stains that I've been trying to remove. It looks like rust (see pic above). I tried muriatic acid, chlorine puck, and vitamin c tablet without success. Any ideas? I'm thinking it might be rusted steel (rebar) coming though plaster.

Pressure gauge on the filtration unit of my pool indicates zero during normal operation when the valves are open to the drain, skimmers and the return. The gauge is not broken. There appear to be no leaks; and the flow seems normal through the skimmers and the return lines. When one of the...

    Rust Stains Cover Up

The pool is under instruction with decking and plaster still to come. There are rust stains now on the gunite wall, one under the light and another on the wall (see pics below). The PB wants to apply a bonding agent and then plaster over these stains. Is it likely that rust stains will show up...

    Iron leaching from coping

Iron stains are showing up on several areas on the coping (see pics). The PB did not warn us that this would happen. This coping stone was one of the choices made available by the PB. On one area, the stain is even dripping down into the plaster area of the pool. I would hate to be swimming...

    Hello from Maryland

Hello, Glad to get on board. I'm currently having a pool built in my back yard. I was surprised to find that the Corona Virus has been good for the pool builders, at least tha's what my builder is saying--people are staying home more and making their homes more livable--although, a long time...
