    vacuuming question

What is the recommended frequency and method for vacuuming a pool? I have a Rover (see signature for description) that I run several days a week but I don't think it is effective, at least not for fine particles that also seem to not get filtered. I have a manual hosed vacuum which I used after...

    First time slammer, checking in

So I started my SLAM yesterday mid morning after pool just went green on Tuesday when pump went out. The pump is limping along now on low ( I hope the flow is strong enough for the SLAM?) until Hayward gets me a new replacement this week. Here were my initial test results: CYA 70 pH 8.2 which I...

Capacitor for Hayward Powerflo Matrix 1.5hp

Anyone know how to find out which capacitor to order to replace a bad one in this model? Supplier was no help (Inyo pools) and can’t find it in Hayward’s useless site either. In the meantime Hayward warranty specialist says someone will contact me in 48 hours...wow, what service, while my pool...

Hayward Pump won’t start on its own

My pump is new, first season of use, but it just started acting up yesterday. When I turn it on it will hum but not run. I unplug, remove lid and stick finger in impeller to turn slightly then replace lid and it will start up. But turn off and have to repeat the same thing, which doesn’t work...

Fixed pH, when will water clear up?

Here are my test results after adding acid: FC 4.5 CYA 70 pH 7.5 (was 8.2) TA 140 (was 180) salt 3400 I am letting the pump run on high to keep the water moving through filter. Will the chlorine clear up my hazy water on its own now that pH is right again, and if so how long? Or is there...

New to SWG ... getting pool started

I have the Aquatrol RJ and have just turned it on for the first time. Salt level is at 2800 from startup. CYA is at 50 but headed to 70 as I type. I am clueless as to the following: How long now and each day does the pump/chlorinator need to run now that I’ve started it? What does desired...

    New and overwhelmed

I just got my TF100 test kit today. New pool was filled last week so chlorine test produced a no chlorine reading. So to get started do I add liquid chlorine before starting to use SWG or where do I go from here?? I ran the calcium test and it is 225 so what is my next step to increase that...

    Location of salt cell

Hi, we just had our 18x33 Matrix installed and I’m wondering why they placed the salt cell on the pool wall while the pump is hard plumbed 20-25 ft away.... The cable for the cell is only 15 ft and it has to connect to the timer which then has to connect to the pump, correct? It seems the cell...

Has anyone (successfully) made a deep end on an 18x33 oval?

My Matrix 18x33 oval came in today and I really want to make one end 6 feet deep (except for 2 feet around the perimeter for support). Has anyone done this or heard of it being done successfully or unsuccessfully? I was considering having a company install but they were noncommittal to doing the...

New AGP Build -- Wilbar Matrix 18'x33'x54"-- Semi-buried with deep end in center

Well, our journey as first time pool owners (and builders) begins! Pool should arrive in 7-10 days so we'll start ground prepping and getting some supplies on a "day off" tomorrow. I've attached a sketch (somewhat crude) of what we hope to achieve, depending on how deep before we hit the water...

    Graded floor for deeper center?

This will be our first pool and we are either going with a Sharkline 18x33x54 or something very similar. We had a neighbor once who had a slightly deeper area in his round agp. So I'm wondering if we can put a gradual slope from both ends to the center to a depth of 60" .... and if so, what size...

Intex Ultra Rectangular or Higher end AGP

So I thought I had decided on an Intex Ultra 15x30 but I'm now strongly leaning to a sturdier AGP like a doughboy or sharkline with a saltwater system. We know we want a pool for the long term, but not wanting to spend 40k on an inground. I would like to partially bury it (about 2-3 feet) and...

Newbie looking at the Intex Ultra Rectagular (plus deck)

Hello from central Florida! I haven't purchased yet but am strongly considering the Intex rectangular 30x16x52. We wanted inground but just can't justify 30-40k versus <10k. I'd be curious to know average lifespans in Florida for the Intex rectangular though if cared for properly. Looking...
