Sorry if this post is long, but I've tried and tried to figure out why DE returns through my skimmer when I shut off the pool pump. I've just lived with the problem for years now but now that summer is almost over I'd like to fix it once and for all. I've inspected and replaced all the grids (8)...

When I turn the pump off, the filter gurgles and then DE and unfiltered water flows back into the skimmer and into the pool. When I add DE into the skimmer, DE comes right back into the pool. I have a Pentair Purex Spira-Mite 1036 8 grid filter (similar to the Pentair Purex SMBW 2000 filter)...
