Questions about filters

I use Filter cleaner and the Mikso wands. The straight one for cleaning inside to outside and then the filter flosser. I bought those because they were metal and not cheap plastic. They work very well. Unless you bleach the filters, they will be slightly discolored even after cleaning and...

Hot Springs Envoy vs. Grande time to decide!!

I personally like my lounger. I spend one 10 minute cycle in either the captains chair or the neck massage chair and one 10 minute cycle in the lounger 99% of my use. In response to your "don't need a 6-7 person hot tub for 4 people", well, you might. I have a 5 person (well it will hold 6 if...

    Cleaning Hot Tub Filters

I use the Leisure Time Overnight filter cleaner and have the Mikise Filter Flosser and the Mikise Power Pic for actual pressure cleaning of the filters. There are plenty of others out there but I liked the metal construction of these, in my mind, they will last longer than the plastic ones. I...

I agree, new switch time. Those contacts are really pretty bad.

Get a hot tub - where to start is there a sticky for where to begin?

Nothing wrong with a Bullfrog. Good quality spa. The reason Bullfrog wasn't on my short list was 2 fold. First was they simply didn't have a spa in my size constraints and that was a deal breaker. Second reason was the salesman at the dealer didn't know the products and was working from 2017...

Get a hot tub - where to start is there a sticky for where to begin?

A hot tub is a long term investment. Pay $5K for a cheap one and replace it in 5 years or pay $10K for a good one and have it for 10-20 years. You can find a good used tub if you are very diligent but you could be buying someone else's nightmare. Most I saw in my local market were in poor shape...

Get a hot tub - where to start is there a sticky for where to begin?

I'm on my second tub. The first one was used 4-5 days a week for several years. It went with the house. This one I have only had in place for a bit over a month and it's used 6 days a week. Will it still get this use in a year or two? I don't know but I can tell you that I'm not getting any...

Get a hot tub - where to start is there a sticky for where to begin?

A fully filled, 400 Gal hot tub will easily weigh over 4000 lbs then add in the weight of the occupants. Normal deck construction is not enough for proper support. I would build up the area the tub is planned for and then some. I would sister in 2x12 joists probably in a 10'x10' area, supported...

2-speed spa motor stuttering when starting high speed

Sounds like either the starter capacitor is going bad or the pump shaft/seal has something binding on it causing a slow start.

Do you really need to shock your spa every week or so?

I'm still on the @ease system simply because my dealer included a years worth of chemicals with my purchase. They recommend shocking once a week and that's what I do. So far, everything has tested just fine and we use the spa at least 5 times a week for 20-40 minutes 1-3 bathers.

New Jacuzzi Brand Hot Tub Cover - Sunbrella material?

If it's actually Sunbrella, that's a darn fine material. My popup camper has the original Sunbrella canopy on it from 1996. It's still in very good shape.

Cal Spas Traditional (PS4], complete rebuild or rebuy?

That doesn't look like a bear to get at the lights and plumbing. It really has minimal insulation to deal with. Nothing wrong with the old time timer system, much less complex to work on and keep running. Those spa packs are pretty easy to work on over today's electronic based systems that need...

Using a Hot Tub as a Pool in Summer

Depending on the size of the area you have, a swim spa may be the better bet, but as said before, they are not cheap. Tidal Fit, made by Artesian is a good brand, PDC makes decent swim spas as well as Hydropool. Insulation will be important in northern Illinois. Artesian has a couple of dual...

Cal Spas Traditional (PS4], complete rebuild or rebuy?

With the current state of the hot tub market, you just may be better off fixing it, IF you can get the parts. Parts are in short supply too. If you do decide to look at the used market, you need to be able to move quickly, good used tubs are not there long. Only look at tubs that are up and...

Stairs with built in handrail for a tub

I honestly don't know the brand. The installers unboxed it at their pickup truck and brought it in and installed it. It's similar to the Vevor Handrail in it's mounting brackets. But is has two quick release buttons that allow you to turn or remove the rail the quick release buttons allow you to...

Stairs with built in handrail for a tub

Why not a bolt on handrail for the spa? You can use any stairs you want to. The handrail I got can be rotated 180 degrees to assist getting in and out of the tub easily

    Total Loss of power

There are fuses in the Spa pack. Should be both cartridge type and glass fuses. Start at the breaker, make sure you have 110V on each leg with respect to the neutral and 240V across L1 and L2. Repeat this at the disconnect and again at the Spa pack itself. If OK, pull the disconnect and check...

Hot Springs Envoy vs. Grande time to decide!!

You really need to wet test the Envoy. Loungers can either be great or the worst thing to come down the pike. I absolutely wouldn't buy a dual lounger model without a wet test. The right lounger for the right person is a great soak. The wrong person (body wise) or lounger design means you can't...

    Ahh-Some questions

Interesting, the dealer said not to use softened water to fill it. That's why I was going to use the raw water side. It would be a heck of a lot easier to use soft water.

    Ahh-Some questions

Ok, after reading here and seeing what Ahh-Some can do, I'm convinced and bought some. My tub is scheduled for delivery next Friday. I want to do the purge before putting it in service. Can I fill it and then purge it at well water temp, then clean and drain and refill or do I need the water to...

New here and looking for refill tablets for Frog @ Ease

Here is a place that sells the compound in the @Ease cartridges. 1KG for about $100. 1,3-Dichloro-5,5-dimethylhydantoin 232807 Still probably cheaper to switch to the TFP method.

    Sundance 880 chelsee no display

Shouldn't be DC coming directly out of a standard transformer. That's usually AC all the way. You get DC after putting the transformer output into a power supply or into a bridge rectifier. If it's a walwort, there should be info on the output voltage and type molded in the case or on a label...

    Hot Tub Brand/Style Recommendations

Start with what you want a tub for. Is it entertainment or relaxation or Hydro Therapy. How many people could be in it at a time. figure if it's 4 people, you probably want a 6 person tub at minimum. What would you like for features? Is this going inside or outside? Do you have 240V 50-60A...

New here but 2nd time spa owner

Hi y'all. After a lot of searching I came across this site and from what I have already read, I believe this will be an excellent resource. I'm Bob, now of Wentworth, NC. I'm a computer guy by trade. Many years ago we had a LPI hot tub we bought at the factory in FL and had shipped to our...
