Yes... here's another newbie with a pool

That’s what I’ve been learning and trying as well! I dumped 2.5 gallons in last Friday, got to 21FC and been trying to monitor pump run times and SWG % output from there. I’m holding at 15 with my 60% output and 8 hour run time it seems. But we have gotten a lot of rain here in central Florida...

Yes... here's another newbie with a pool

Make sure you are getting liquid chlorine. Here in Florida, I find the Pinch A Penny deal the best for $8 jug, then $5 refills on 2.5Gallons at 12%

    Vacuum Relief Valve Leaking

Hey guy, I have solar panels with an automated switch. I notice that when my solar is OFF, I get a leak from the vacuum relief valve. Slow drip. What is interesting is it changes based on RPMs from the pump. When priming and running high RPM, no leak. Once it is done priming and runs down to...

    Trouble with Stabilizer

I would do one more OCLT to verify your previous findings. Using the FAS-DPD test.

    Trouble with Stabilizer

I don't even use the OTO test.. just the FC test.

    Hello from Melville NY--Long Island.

Just read the thread and want to say keep going! I would stop listening to the "pool people" you hired and listen to the folks on this forum.. they truly know their stuff! Keep the SLAM going, maintain FC levels per the SLAM chart based on your CYA, and don't worry about PH/CH/TA yet until you...

    Trouble with Stabilizer

Trust your kit! Do you know how the pool store was measuring? I just took my water in too to PaP and they told me 110PPM when my kit says 60PPM.

Salt Cell doesnt seem to keep up and CYA dropping

woo! We had a ton of rain here in Florida. Got about 5” in a couple hours today. Anxious to see what FC levels our pools are at tomorrow.

    New to Saltwater Generators

I’m no expert here, but sounds like either hidden algae or the SWGs not functioning. Did you try adding 5PPM of liquid chlorine after sundown? Measure FC after an hour. Then measure FC first thing in the morning.. that will help rule out any algae issue first.

    5FC, 0CC, Yellow Algae?

Thanks for this - I ran my FC up to 23 over the weekend, brushed, brushed, brushed and looks like my CYA is closer to 60. Did two OCLT and they both were within 1FC. Pool is clear, brushing wasn't yielding any more yellow. I was surprised to measure 15 FC today (from 21 yesterday), but it has...

How to know which Filter Cartridge size?

Interesting. Thanks for the help. Will march forward with a Pleatco solution from Amazon.

How to know which Filter Cartridge size?

Thanks! Yes, I am reading C17502 and looks like my height is around 44" or so to the top of the filter. Should be good with the C17502. Seems like a big filter for my dinky pool size. I'll look into a Pleatco solution! Thanks

How to know which Filter Cartridge size?

Also, is there recommended brands for Filters - Are the cheaper models on Amazon OK or do we recommend going with the OEM products?

    Water in my light fixture

Thanks guys. Ouch another $500 lol. This project may have to wait and I’ll just put the fixture back and breaker off for a while.

    Water in my light fixture

Thanks. It’s all corroded inside. I couldn’t even get the bulb out it’s so stuck with corrosion. is it plausible to replace the full fixture without draining any of the pool?

    Water in my light fixture

I assume this is bad? I turned off the breaker to clean and look for algae and the fixture is full of water. in the process of taking it apart. Am I going to need a new light fixture and run new wires?

    FC hold after SLAM?

Just curious, if I were to SLAM and get my FC levels to 28. Then proved OCLT passes and I turn my SWG to produce roughly 4-5PPM to account for the sun loss. Would/should my FC stay at 28 indefinitely (assuming no algae, etc) or is that level just too high for the sun and CYA levels?

AquaRite - When to clean w/ Acid

Hey guys, My salt system (cell is 3 years old) is continually stated 2600 - 2700 PPM of salt, whereas my Taylor kit and pool store both confirmed a 3200 PPM of salt in the pool. My next step is going to be to try and clean the salt cell. My question is, how much build up is too much? For...

    5FC, 0CC, Yellow Algae?

Thanks. Yeah, hindsight is 20/20. I didn’t fully understand the TFP method until after my pump was installed and I ran the SWG. I was planning on having my pool service handle the green.. but after reading TFP decided to fire them. I’d have to do a drain to get my CYA levels down big time...

    5FC, 0CC, Yellow Algae?

Hi all! Long story short.. pump died and I ended up installing my own and firing my pool service. During the two weeks the pump died, pool slowly turned green. Ran the pump for 48hours and SWG on super chlorinate. I thought I was good to go after cleaning the cartridge filter and pool was...

Main basket not filling with water

My VS pump does the same thing. I attribute mine to the solar relief valve though at low RPMs. Do you have any solar heating by chance?

Robots look awesome.. but really needed?

Hmm.. excellent idea. This paired with a barrier of sorts may be the answer for when I am away. I did not know the quick clean only did floors. I guess the better question is, what happens to the robot when the cord gets taught? Does it just pop wheelies and not clean? Or do we think it is...

Nope, not sure how heavy that slab of concrete is on top, but it has never been removed.
