    Lower FC levels.

Hi everyone. I’ve had my pool for about a year. Working great. Since the swimming season started last week, I noticed I’ve had to run my SWG more often. Here is my most recent tests FC 1.0 CC 0 Ph 7.24 TA 70 CH 250 CYA 90 (May have overshot this a little) Currently running at 25% 15 hours...

    Cleaning SWG

Question about cleaning a SWG. I know it has to be checked every 3 months. However, is it necessary to wash with Muriatc acid if there is no visible scale/debris ? Is a good hose down adequate ? I’ve had my pool about a year, keeping chemistry perfect according to pool math, and have only...

    Freaking out -HELP !!

So I’ve been doing well for the last year with my self pool maintenance up until today. Today I went to unscrew my salt cell for inspection and the PVC threader thing on the PVC pipe cracked so now it cannot screw on the salt cell. So I can’t use my filter or salt cell for several days until...

Heating pool in NC and advice about pollen

Hi everyone - I live in central NC near Raleigh. I kept my pool open all winter and everything is balanced. Weather is starting to get milder mid 70s and my kids are chomping at the bit to get into the pool. We bought a heat pump to extend our pool season for this purpose. This will be my...

Heat pump vs Natural Gas heater HELP!

Jess B - I live in Raleigh. First season with my pool last year. I have a heat pump. It is slow but it works and I do think is efficient. I have come to understand that it takes 1 hour for every 1 degree of temperature raising. Good point about covering the pool at night. Its not mandatory...

    Newbie Check-up

I agree the numbers look good. I tend to run my TA a bit lower with SWG. You may find your ph constantly rising and frequently having to add acid. I tend to run TA round 60-70 with the SWG running. This seems to keep my ph from rising so quickly. Just food for thought.

    Why higher CYA for SWCG?

My understanding is running the CYA level a bit higher allows you to run the SWG less thus preserving your salt cell. You could run the pump longer at a lower % on the SWG but at a low CYA level it will be really hard to reach your total chlorine goal. I could be incorrect but this is what I...

    Is regular acid demand normal?

I had this problem with my Salt Water chlorinator when the total alkalinity was too high. Remember if you have a salt water generator, it naturally makes some buffer so adding Ph is a common thing. I reduced my acid demand significantly by keeping my total alkalinity around 60. This was the...
