I saw the pool guy there. He was using test strips and declared the water to be safe. Just like a friend whose pool was green a few years back and kept telling me the chlorine is high...how can it be algae!

That's why...i guarantee you were not putting in anywhere near enough chlorine to fight Algae at CYA of 180...if thats even accurate...

Me too I went from 40 ppm CYA to 20 in just over a month.i used liquid conditioner which was some kind on mono something or another cyanuric something or another...but not 100% CYA. Is that why it dissipated?

Get your own test kit...like TF 100 sold here. Trust your own numbers...

Yes...mix chlorine or bleach in a spray bottle say one or two ounces per 1/2 gallon bottle, spray down toys life vests etc, then either rinse or throw in pool while shocking the pool. Should take care of it.

Brand new tf100...water is crystal clear. Better than it's ever been. They'd been using tri Chloe pucks for years and I drained down 1/2 the water last the previous weekend, refilled, balanced, tested then shocked...things were fine a week ago. She's added chlorine and last night FC was 10 ppm.

And after draining the pool by half I got the pool form 120 CYA to 60 and CH from 440 to 360...then I had pH of 7.6 after shocking for two days. Then rechecked FC was 7...target 5 to 9 ppm. And oH was still 7.6. TA was 110. A week later the the pH is 8.2 or higher, and TA went to 220 ppm...

Realize that the nineteen year old who works there from may til august knows nothing about water...just owning a tf 100 makes you the smartest pool guy in the store each time you walk in!

By the el cheap cover each fall. Especially,if you have harsh winter winds. Never bought the expensive one...always was afraid it would get ruined ...so each fall i spend about 45 bucks...on the cheap one.

First have to ask does the algae grow up the side of Pool? If it came back immediately after the new liner install...im going to guess that it is a Brownish substance that settled on the bottom of the pool called tree pollen. I've had it for years. FC holds and if I don't brush or vacuum it...

Question about fiberglass pools...after draining down 1/2 the pool. I noticed that there is a round chip about the size of a bottle cap. It looks like it is a chip in the surface coat, but not clear through. Should this get fixed now or can it wait til fall to repair?

Yep Train...going to drain down by 1/3 to 1/2 and then refill. See where it goes from there. I want the CYA to be more manageable, and then she is under strict directions to stop using the Trichlor and the Cal Hypo. They have been using this stuff for three or four years. in the mean time...

CYA 120ppm. This is what i was afraid of. CH was still 440 and FC was .5. Pool guy said that was perfect. Lol at 120 CYA far from perfect.

pH was 7.2 when I tested on Thursday...I'll post results tomorrow after work. I know I can get the water taken care off, I am concerned about the stain at the deep end. But I'll see what a trichlor puck does.

The guy put in 8 lbs of trichlor. according to the pool calc...that raised the FC to 65ppm. What good that 65 ppm do?

Well you have to know pool stores around here...they are notorious for giving bad results...not testing for CYA and then telling you need to purchase all kinds of algaecide and chemicals you do not need. Guy came out and dumped 8 lbs of chlorine into their pool on Saturday and then told the...
