    HOmemade acid/bleach feeder

Jason, Jason, I saw the Mazzei injectors which sell for about $50, as opposed to the linked venturi t's which are about $5. That was how I got confused. What is the big difference that makes the Mazzei parts special? I just noticed you are in Silver Spring. I was born on Dryden Street and...

    Above ground pool cleaner

I have tried three: 1) Barracuda Zippy (pressure side cleaner) This did the best job of getting sand up off the floor. Clogged quickly if leaves were bad. Had problems with it getting stuck around the ladder. Easy to empty and clean. I had some issues with parts failing from time to time...

Sand vs. Zeolite comparison - anyone tried both?

What I can tell you is that the 3 year old zeo I dumped out on the ground looks just as fresh and lovely as the $100 worth of zeo I just bought to replace it. Feels good between your toes...have a nice little beach area now. I also found out it pays to shop around. Pinch a Penny charged...

    HOmemade acid/bleach feeder

Thank you Bama for your help. I have looked for peristaltic pumps and haven't found a good deal. I think I prefer the venturi idea over the peristaltic pump, since consistency is not an issue for me (I want to get the CL or acid in there fairly quickly and I will be watching it the whole...

    Liquidator erratic flow

Thanks. I will try that when I hook back up!

    Liquidator erratic flow

I have been told my flow problem is related to overefficiency. There is only 4' of pipe and one elbow between skimmer and pump, and pump is 3' lower than water level. This results in minimal suction and low flow (2 max) from the liquidator. This has been resolved somewhat by using a ball...

    HOmemade acid/bleach feeder

Jason, do you have any suggestions for a maximum flow rate into the suction side for acid? For example, if I set it up to suck in a quart undiluted over 10 minutes/30 minutes, would that be too much? I am trying to avoid the whole pouring/measuring/choking/spilling process, I want to be able to...

    HOmemade acid/bleach feeder

Exactly as you said, the pH spikes are usualy the result of adding larger amounts of Cl as needed occasionally. (startup, fighting mustard algae, liquidator flow "issues" etc.) I am replacing my liner so I will be adding borates to the new water and also going through acid/aeration protocol...

    HOmemade acid/bleach feeder

I read about your device with great interest. Sounds like a great solution for slow drip/maintenance dosing, but that isn't what I need. Routinely, my pool maintains ph pretty well, but when things get out of whack and I get a ph spike (high chlorine demand times, shocking, adding borates or...

Should I add extra return - rust an issue?

Thanks for the replies. Would it be beneficial to add it at the same height as the first return? Or perhaps closer to the bottom of the pool?

    HOmemade acid/bleach feeder

I already tried this at home, now someone please tell me if it is too dangerous. I HATE pouring acid and liquid chlorine into the pool because of the heavy jugs, fumes, spills, splashes, etc. I have a liquidator, but still occasionally need to dump liquid shock or add acid. I disconnected...

    Salt Water Generator in AGP?

Well gosh, I live on the coast anyway (4 miles from ocean) Hadn't thought of it that way. I was more worried about the pool walls and the steel parts that hold the top frame together.

Sand vs. Zeolite comparison - anyone tried both?

Yes, I think it was installed incorrectly. I measured the distance from the laterals to the top of the valve with it stuck together so I could make sure I put it back the same way. Pool store told me the lateral base should rest on the bottom (Hayward 24T). Assembled this way the measurement...

Sand vs. Zeolite comparison - anyone tried both?

I've only used Zeolite, and am considering switching to sand, but I have never used sand. I welcome any opinions. The only issues I have had: 1) I removed the top of the filter to look and the laterals came right out with the top since the stuff is so light and fluffy. Then I had to dump...

    Salt Water Generator in AGP?

Considering adding an SWG to my setup. Is rust a serious concern? I know it will void the pool warranty, but the warranties are pretty worthless anyway. I have friends who swear by theirs but they've only had it a couple years, too soon to tell. Has anyone seen one in an above ground pool...

Should I add extra return - rust an issue?

I am getting a new liner and considering adding an extra return on the opposite side of the pool. (Its a 33' round pool and the single return is beside the skimmer. I can do the plumbing myself, just wondering if it is worth the extra trouble for the added circulation. I am also wondering if...

to floc or not to floc

I didn't realize sand would filter dead algae. When I kill a bloom, I ALWAYS have to use alot of clarifier (not floc) to clear the dead algae, and adding some diatomite through the skimmer helps too. My sand filter doesn't clear the dead algae without the clarifier, even if I wait weeks. I...

I like my liquidator, it makes BBB super easy.

(edit) Woops, I keep crossposting with you..... I don't really like artificially restricting water flow to the pump, and I am concerned about using a ball valve continuously in a halfway open mode, but it is working and is easy to adjust this way...... Will it otherwise negatively effect the...

I like my liquidator, it makes BBB super easy.

I think you've nailed it here Mike....since my pump is only 4' from the skimmer, perhaps my system is TOO efficient.....there is so much unrestricted water available to my pump it can push lots of water without create suction....I'd wager that those who are getting high flow rates have long runs...

I like my liquidator, it makes BBB super easy.

I am assuming you are referring to the float valves in the liquidator opening and closing to regulate flow. That is not my problem....the float valves are working properly. The problem is there is little to no suction at the hole in my 1.5" pipe. I f I disconnect the liquidator hardware...

I like my liquidator, it makes BBB super easy.

I don't have a picture, bit my setup is exactly like the diagram posted earlier. My check valves HAVE been removed. I don't get how increasing the amount going into the liquidator will increase the amount going out.....the flow out of the liquidator is independent of the flow going in...and...

I like my liquidator, it makes BBB super easy.

Flow problems My Liquidator has been nothing but problems....hopefullly with some advice I can get it working well. My pool: 27000 gal above ground, sand filter, powerflo matrix 1.5hp pump. Liquidator is below pool water level. The pump and filter are only 4-5' from the skimmer and return...
