Need new pump quick, mine just died

I have a Pentair Intelliflo 4X160 variable speed pump (has been replaced by VS-3050 Variable Speed Pump). Costs a little more, but saves quite a bit on power usage.

Live Sweat Bee's Coming Out of My Return?

Y'all must have young'uns and have the "Bee Movie" (like me) and/or that movie is "dead-on". Anyway, I recommend the movie, very entertaining. Sorry, I have no technical explanation for your problem.

So what are you Smokin for the 4th?

Man, that looks incredibly fun! Sean, The GrubRUB turned out to be excellent! Cooked the ribs for 3 hrs on the grill (gas, offset@300 degrees) and turned out GREAT! It's a brown sugar-based rub. I think it will be a good stock for your "back-up". I've used it on steaks also with good results...

Dark sand buff! I concur. We have a color closer to your burley wood color and BOY is it BRIGHT! I wish we would have darked it down a few shades (even here in sunny hot Houston) because you can't even look out the window without sunglasses on! Don't get me wrong, we love it!, just an after the...

    Cleaning Cell in SWG

Hi donna, One thing that jumps out at me is that your CYA (stabilizer) level is a bit low contrary to ChlorEASE recommendation. They say that 80 ppm is optimum and you are at 50 ppm. I have attached the instruction manual if you see that a cleaning is necessary. For most SWG's a 4 parts water...

Cloudy and Cool Weekend - Will Tweak My #'s today

How much FC are you losing overnight? You said it dropped to 2.5, but from where? If your are losing more than 1.0 ppm of FC overnight and/or your water is cloudy/tinted or you have CC above 0.5 you need to maintain shock levels. Otherwise, enjoy your pool!

Water coming out of booster pump line even when pump is off

The way our systems is plumbed, the "socket" for the Legend is just another return except that the booster pump is piped into it. In other words, it will always have the same flow as the other returns until the booster pump is turned on.

New pool - startup next week - questions

JohnT is right on the money! You can anticipate fighting pH creeping upwards for at least the first month due to the plaster curing. I went through about 5 gallons of muratic acid during that time, then it leveled off somewhat. So you are right to keep a close eye on that. I added CYA...

Just Received My TF testkit and TA is high

Nod, CC of 0.5 is not that uncommon for a "normal" pool, also could be the error allowance in the test. You defintely need CYA up to 30 -50 ppm. Your pH is fine for now (7.2-7.6 is ideal). Your TA is high, which means your pH will probably drift upwards with any aeration (rain, splashing...

Don't Foret to Clean the Filters........

Iggy, Thanks for the great info on what you have experienced since your pool has been in operation! One thing I noticed that may be of help to you is that your CYA level of 50 is a little low for your SWG. Goldline suggests a CYA level of 60 - 80 and says 80 ppm "is best". Happy 4th to you...

Quantity of Chemicals Needed (BBB) for New Pool Fill

Looks like your fill water will have acceptable (yet just a bit on the higher end) levels for TA and CH. You can add the CYA straight to your skimmer (pump running). Add about 2/3's of the total amount and wait 4-7 days and retest before adding more. It takes CYA sometimes a week to fully...

    New home...1st time pool owner....a green pool....HELP!

Excellent work loridud! Like Craig said, keep bringing the chlorine up to shock level until it loses less than 1 ppm overnight and you have CC less than 0.5. You'll be there in no time!

    Bleach and Muriatic acid?

Swimgirl, First, I suggest you get a test kit that can measure your CYA and TA among other essential things, (such as the TF-100 sold by duraleigh, a TFP member; or a Taylor K-2006 kit). This will be a GREAT asset to you! Next, take the mineral cartridge out of froggy! It's adding minerals to...
