    Another hybrid pool question

@MAPR-Austin , Thanks for the reply and pictures. Your comments as well as starting to dig behind the wall has answered many of my questions.. Unfortunately, the fiberglass walls are backfilled with concrete, making this a bigger project than anticipated. You are correct that the rebar is...

    Another hybrid pool question

I did earlier this year but cannot hurt to try again. I went so far as to see if I could find him/her in Wisconsin since the town is relatively small but no luck.

    Another hybrid pool question

@ajw22 , here is the thread where I found the pics. Unfortunately, the OP seems was a hit and run poster. Would have liked to request the entire install manual for my archives.

    Another hybrid pool question

I am doing a "light refresh" :) on one wall of my hybrid pool. There is an angle iron that runs the length of the wall but has rusted away to nothing. I am sure they had a purpose at one time but are doing nothing except waiting to give someone lockjaw. I found the following picture from...

    A little schadenfreude

Life got in the way and I just had the opportunity to work on the second stuck light cord last week. Definitely worse than the first. Used a tree to get a sturdy anchor point for the pull. I was concerned that I was going to rip the cord apart with so much tension on it but perseverance...

Success! I am 50% of the way there. Thanks to @Texas Splash for the good luck wish. It was a bit sketchy for a while but got the cord out without damage to niche or pool wall. Once I saw that the cord had pulled out a little, I sprayed silicon lube into the conduit which I figured would help...

Thanks for the insight. The current plan is to remove the cord if possible then pull the new (smaller diameter) cord with a stranded ground wire as well as bonding the niche externally.

I am doing some updates to my pool that have been on the list for a while. One item is replaceing the (non)existing light fixtures with new Pentair 12V incandescent housings and J&J Electronics ColorSplash LXG-W lamps. Along with the new fixtures, a rewire is in order since the existing boxes...

Sand Filter media - Is this normal?

I realize it is always easy to spend other peoples money but if I were in your shoes I would spend the 30-40 dollars and replace the sand if there is any question about its ability to perform its intended job. My experience with deep cleaning the sand bed is it is a time consuming and messy...

    What sealant to use.

If there is a leak between the return fitting and pool wall, using sealant is a much quicker and easier repair than removing the pool fitting and replacing the gasket. I would not consider it a band aid over a larger problem as the goal is to prevent pool water from leaking out. Aesthetically...

    What sealant to use.

When I rehabbed my hybrid pool eight years ago I used Vulkem 116 and it has held up well. The instructions for Vulkem say that it should not be used in contact with chlorinated water but I could never get a definitive answer why. Some responses indicated that it would discolor, others said it...

Well..... I have never been accused of being the sharpest knife in the block but 10 years to realize........ @JamesW, thanks for clearing that up for me. I feel like I have you on speed dial these past few days. :) Regards,
