CYA Level - Logic for SWG Pools

Why are the CYA levels for SWG pools recommended to be higher? http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/128-chlorine-cya-chart-slam-shock Non-SWG goes down to 20, SWG starts at 60. I'm at ~35 and deciding whether to increase that further or not.

Help with CA After Ascorbic Acid Treatment

Thanks for the reply, I had read about the bacteria - wierd. As I'm not 100% certain it is the bacteria, is there any chance that the R-0013 reagent can go bad? I'm presuming the idea here is to a) kill the bacteria then b) SLAM killing anything that remains...

Help with CA After Ascorbic Acid Treatment

I added 242 oz of 10% clorine before a trip last Thursday. Came home yesterday to 0% and a cloudy pool (but not green) and bubbles from the spa spillover. Added another 242 oz of 10% last night, FC was 0 again this afternoon (was raining this morning and I didn't check). Tested CYA again and...

Help with CA After Ascorbic Acid Treatment

Hi all, did the Ascorbic Acid treatment last Thursday/Friday - I used 6 lbs since the stains were really really bad. Since Saturday I've dumped 6 gallons of 10% bleach and can't keep the FC up. I did the overnight test last night it was 4.5 - 5 ppm, then this morning before sunrise it was down...

If you haven't already be sure to clean your SWG. When I did it made a huge difference in the amount of chlorine generated. Also make sure the salt level is up or it won't make and chlorine. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

New Member - First TF100 Results and Chem Adjustments

Makes sense, worth a trip to the store then to make sure I don't wreck the CYA and cause other issues. So a better plan would be to: - Add 241 oz of 6% liquid bleach - Add 49 oz of Muratic Acid (31.45% 20 Buame)

First time dosing my (new to me) pool. Thanks to the help from this forum so far, I've calculated the size of the pool, purchased the TF-100 test kit, and tested a few times to get the results below. Before I "dose" for the first time, here are my calculations and plan - I appreciate any...

New Homeowner/Member - Calculating Pool Size?

Thanks Richard. Makes sense. As a type 1 diabetic for 30 years I have lots of practice doing this with my blood sugar, I figure the pool is just another thing to dose and measure, dose and measure, rinse and repeat...

New Homeowner/Member - Calculating Pool Size?

Thanks for linking to that tool BoDarville - very helpful (is that really you Burt Reynolds?) I calculated the following: Pool - 6.5 average depth (4.5 shallow end, 8.5 deep end), 17' wide, 36' long = 26,700 gal Spa: 7' diameter, 4' depth = 1,200 gal Total gal = 27,900 Sound about right...

New Homeowner/Member - Calculating Pool Size?

Hi everyone, thanks for this forum, loads of information here. I got the TFT100 test kit so I have results to share and questions about those, but first I thought I should know the size of my pool. Previous owner doesn't really know (he guessed 35k-40k gallons). I'm including photos and...
