That's weird. All I ever hear about them is that they last a little while and then they stop working right. That's why I steered away from them, aside from dealing with the hoses.

I believe the poster doesn't want to deal with the long hose required to use the options you mentioned. I would say check out the pool rover junior. I like it but I haven't used it yet. Also, see this post for another option that looks like a good deal.
