I think the conflicting reports of how and when to test has also thrown him/her for a loop.

I just did the same with my pool. Used 12" pavers. After starting to fill the pool, I ended up pulling all of the pavers outwards to keep the edge and corners from being under the liner. That put the D shaped feet right at the edge of the paver.

I didn't see how you are adding the stabilizer. I would think it would make a difference if you were just tossing the granules in or doing the sock method.
