    How much borax exactly?

LOL - yes - that is what I have. What I was asking was when JasonLion said "3 1/2 boxes of borax" what was he referring to? The 20 Mule Team box of approx 4 lbs or what? I tagged him in a link but haven't heard back yet. But that is what I'm going with.

    How much borax exactly?

Thank you JoyfulNoise - that is exactly what I needed to know. - - - Updated - - - For me - I usually only need 1/2 gallon HCL to 1 gallon tops so the borax would be proportional, I assume (used with Muriatic acid). Thanks.

    How much borax exactly?

Thank you - Interesting. I'm just curious as to what size box Trouble Free Pool was referring to as to the 3 1/2 boxes specifically.

    How much borax exactly?

The following thread is closed so I couldn't reply: Borates - Why and How However it says "3 1/2 boxes of borax." It doesn't mention size - I bought a box of 20 mule team - one box is 4lbs. So how many boxes? I can't imagine putting in more than one box, slowly in the skimmers (preferably) at...

    Stabilizer sock

In 2007 Chem Geek (TFP Expert) wrote, "While some chemicals (notably Cal-Hypo) are incompatible with Trichlor that may be remaining in the inline chlorinator, that is not true for cyanuric acid or related cyanurate products. However, the sock material is organic so I'd make sure there's no...

Liquid Chlorine Vs Pool Shock - Can someone answer this?

Thank you Chem geek! Ah, Pooldv - I WAS asking the same question - I don't feel that it was answered adequately before and I did a search FIRST on this exact topic which led me to THIS thread. Originally the post was "liquid chlorine vs pool shock" BUT it was answered as if the question was...

Liquid Chlorine Vs Pool Shock - Can someone answer this?

I think that Isaac-1 is right - through my searching at times I found they were the same, yet I would see a post or more that would say otherwise. You all give percentages - am I correct to assume the percentages you are giving are for Sodium Hypochlorite? Why not "bump" a thread if it needs...

Liquid Chlorine Vs Pool Shock - Can someone answer this?

I, too, wonder about the difference between liquid chlorine (bleach) and liquid shock (like Buckman's Liquid Shock which only lists ingredients as 12.5% sodium hypochlorite and the rest "other ingredients").

    Getting rid of Mineral Springs

Oh, I see - thanks. An acronym for this forum. I wondered what Sparkle meant by TFPC being cheaper than Mineral Springs (brand). :)

    Getting rid of Mineral Springs

Thank you so much for your answer. What does TFPC stand for? I've gotten good at testing and good at adding muriatic acid as needed. I was finding the same thing - Mineral Springs did absolutely nothing - as did Bioguard Backup for Algae prevention - does nothing - and have been lenient with the...

    Getting rid of Mineral Springs

No, all is good. If I have to buy a bag of Renewal for September I will. I'm just wondering what the replacement is if not on Mineral Springs. Renewal has salt, baking soda, borates and other hidden things. - - - Updated - - - Did you find it to be much cheaper overall than using Mineral...

    Getting rid of Mineral Springs

Just to clarify - I've been using salt for 2 years - but I've been using Mineral Springs Beginnings and Renewal and the Bioguard products. I understand what my ranges should be with a SWG - I'm just asking about the substitute products (basic salt, etc) in LIEU of using Mineral Springs because...

    Getting rid of Mineral Springs

I have a salt water generator that is dependent on salt to make chlorine. Or do you just put salt in initially only if you don't use the Mineral Springs Beginnings? Thanks! I'm not a pool newbie - just converting over from Mineral Springs (probably next year and if possible for the rest of the...

    Getting rid of Mineral Springs

Hi Forum, This is my first post. I've decided not to continue with Mineral Springs due to cost. I've been reading about adding borax and baking soda (I already add Muriatic acid and cya as needed). I can figure out the baking soda, but if I'm putting in a bag of Renewal weekly (pool about...
