I’m going to take a sample to Leslie’s tomorrow and see what they say the cya is at. At this point, I think I’m just going to cover the pool and worry about draining it come feb or March. My pump runs 24/7 so it will at least keep theb water moving. What’s your thought on just covering it and...
Yeah, it totally fooled me. My OCLT was only 3 yesterday morning. It wasn’t until yesterday evening when I dropped the vac in it that I saw it stirring up the algae on the floor. My fault because I should have brushed the pool the 2 days I had it at slam levels. Lesson learned.
I’m not sure what happened. When I tested the CYA, the black dot was clear as day all the way up to 20. I figured I’d play it safe yesterday and put 10 in the pool calculator. It actually called for 2lb 2oz. I only measured out 2lbs though. Maybe my initial test was off and I should have...
Yeah. I’m just going to rent a submersible pump this time and draining guessing about 60%. Last time I used the water hose and it took like 3 days to drain lol
Let me start off by saying I’m about sick of dealing with this pool lol. But with a demanding wife and kid, I have no choice.
Anyhow. I was getting ready to cover up the pool for the winter, but had to tackle an algae issue first. My test levels were decent except for PH @8.0 and CYA really...
Just curious where y’all store it. On the box it says cool, dark place, preferably not in the house or the garage, not next to chlorine, etc etc. I live in Texas. There is no such thing as a cool dark place that’s not hot 😆
I may have had algae still present in the pool is the only thing I can think of. I just read the OCLT, and according to the documentation and my FC still being the same, the water is clean.
Nothing else was added and I don’t use tabs. They caused me cya problems lol.
I’ll definitely do...
My CYA is between 50 and 60. Really wish there was a easier test because I basically only have vision in 1 eye. My FC was 3.5 last night so I added 29oz of LC to bring it to a 7. Had to go back and check my logs because I was wrong earlier. I just checked my FC and it was still at 7. My PH was...
Thanks for that tip. I was just concerned with my FC being ate up so much during the day. Yesterday morning it was at 15, and last night it was at 3.5 so I added 20oz of LC to bring it to 6. Looks like I need to try and keep it around 6 at all times as much as possible.
Ok guys. The pool is nice and blue again! I have a question regarding my FC level. I normally keep my FC at 6 or 7, and I add my chlorine at night of course to bring it to that. The sun eats it up like crazy though during the day. My concern with that is algae growth if all the FC is ate up...
I switched from a cartridge filter to a sand pump a couple months ago. Pump always runs 24/7. I just backwashed the sand and retested the FC. It was at 10.5 so I brought it back up to 16. And yeah, I’m going to buy some more today.
I actually just reread it again a few mins ago. I guess with everything going on, it just slipped my mind. So it’s ok to add the chlorine during the day while slamming?
I tried editing it. It was supposed to say 16 and I accidentally put 13. With FC at 0 and CYA at 40, it called for 131oz of liquid chlorine. That was what I added.
Here’s the latest. Pool is still green as of this morning. Yesterday tests:
FC 0 brought to 13 last night
PH 8.0 brought down to 7.2 last night
Cya is around 40
TA 160
Haven’t been able to test this morning because it’s been pouring down. Any ideas why it’s still green?
y’all have always been so helpful and I appreciate it!!
With that being said, I’ve been trying to maintain my pool for my son and wife throughout the summer, but with health issues it’s been somewhat difficult 😞
I just want to make sure I’m going in the right direction.
My pool is currently...
I used the return in the pool to push water out of the water hose. After that, it created suction and I just anchored the hose inside the pool. Been working fine so far.
No, didn’t do that. Didn’t think I’d have to with the amount of force coming out of that drain plug.
I thought about a pump, but we aren’t in a rush to use the pool. It’s draining at about 1/2 a inch per hour 😂. Hose works fine on the spigot, even works fine just laying in the bottom of the pool after siphoning the water through it. I even tried hooking it up on the pool drain a 3rd time and...
I checked that too. No kinks whatsoever unless something is going on inside the hose. I wish I had another hose to try to solve the mystery lol. I thought about buying another one, but I’ll just wait. Thanks for the help.
The water drain is on the bottom edge of the pool….the water is well above the drain and the hose. The hose is literally laying on the ground when hooked up on the drain. I ended up just having to siphon the water through the hose and anchor the hose down inside the pool
Riddle me this if you can. When I hook the hose up to the drain connector for the pool, no water comes out. If I unscrew the hose from the connector, water flows. If I hook the hose back up on the water spigot on the house, works fine. I can even siphon water through the hose.
