We installed a 16x48 intex in June and used the cartridge filter up until last week when the 2650 sand filter arrived. It may not always be true, but in this case "bigger is better!"

I use an Intex hose that came with the 1500 gph pump and purchased a 2" backwash hose from Lowes. The backwash hose slides over the Intex hose and actually creates a tight fit without a hose clamp. The Intex hose gives me the angle I needed for my water to run without kinking up my backwash hose.

Talked with Intex this morning and the customer service rep confirmed that they have changed their 2650 gph sand filter tank to a one piece tank. Didn't say why....I'm guessing their saving money. Any way filter is assembled and running. WOW! I think I can swim against my return flow. Very...

Thanks for the replys everyone. I measured the circumference and it was 16". I wonder if there is anyway I could still get the two piece filter tank? I'm calling Intex this morning and see what they say.

That's what I thought, but the model # on the box matches the 2650 the tank itself says 100lb capacity. It's just the tank itself looks identicial to the smaller filters.

Intex makes a SWG that you can pick up anywhere from 150-190. I've got one and it works fine. I'm no SW guru by any means, but this is an inexpensive option.
