App does not work for spa?

For my hot tub I selected fiberglass and it still recommends 350ppm but in this sticky, How do I use Chlorine in my Spa (or pool)? it states Hence the confusion and appeared difference in recommendations between app and a sticky.

App does not work for spa?

I don’t find this entirely true. In the Hot tub forum it has a lengthy sticky about spas and the target values are indeed different CH in the text. It states if you are over 100 or 150 ppm, you are good to go and no need to increase. This differs from a plaster pool, for example. It would...

    Pump Rattle/Rattling - Mechanical Seal?

I do not believe it is cavitation as this sounds like metal on metal. It occurs also at higher speeds but to a lesser extent. If we don’t think it’s the seal, I would venture to guess it is the fastener in center of the impeller… disappointing as this would mean a complete disassembly. In...

    Cover for Motor/Pump?!

Does anyone have some great DIY or off-the-shelf solutions for peeping sun and rain off my new pump/motor? I have a VGreen 165 and want to be sure I keep this motor in good condition by keeping as much rain and UV as possible off the unit to preserve it.

    Pump Rattle/Rattling - Mechanical Seal?

I’ll give the drill against the side a shot. I feel it is somewhere around the impeller end as it’s not as loud when I press my ear to the fan end of the housing vs the wet end.

    Pump Rattle/Rattling - Mechanical Seal?

It does have a fan but the sound is not coming from that end of motor.

    Pump Rattle/Rattling - Mechanical Seal?

I’ll make a new one but the motor and pump are not moving at all. The sound is coming from inside, where the motor and pump housing meet. All bolts/fasteners are tight. I’ll get a new one and see if you can see sound in the next one. Do you also hear colors?

    Pump Rattle/Rattling - Mechanical Seal?

Hi everyone. I recent replaced my 1.5hp single speed motor with a new VSD motor. I continued to use the Hayward TriStar 3200X series pump with a 3210C impeller. I used the GOKIT as advised by InyoPools and confirmed by my separate online searching. At low speeds and occasionally at higher...

How to increase CH (calcium hardness)?

How can I safely, and cost-efficiently raise my CH to an acceptable level? What is a preferred level? Below are test results a moment ago: FC: 7.0 CC: 0.5 pH: 7.5 TA: 80 CH: 200 CYA (taken yesterday. i just started 0.25lbs dry via sock method): est: 25-30 * target is 30-40 (max) CH (Source...

    Algae and CYA struggles…

We have made progress. Slowly working to get CYA up as we had virtually none. Pool is clear but my wife was reluctant to maintain the high FC so I am worried we have algae hiding but can’t see it. Will get CYA to 30-40 and run OCLT to help give some insight. Water appears crystal clear. We...

    Algae and CYA struggles…

Is the cya test cloudy at all? Why is the chlorine target 12? I see Why such high FC f or 30ppm CYA? Chart shows much lower requirement

    - CYA was not cloudy. - we are adding muriatic as per calculator to bring pH to 7.2 - for dry stabilizer can i use stabilized chlorine tablet that we already have?

    Algae and CYA struggles…

Good morning. Here are results of latest tests. Will report back tomorrow with a full slate of tests. I will wake up in the night to start the pool pump as soon as it reaches a sufficient level.

    Algae and CYA struggles…

Okay…. I’m back. I am doing a water exchange. The overwhelming majority of water was removed from pool and used the tarp exchange method. It is still topping up and water is still green, which we suspect is due to how green it was. While topping up the water i added some 10% shock (liquid)...

    Algae and CYA struggles…

Our pool has suffered from high CYA since we moved in. Prior to a test kit, Leslie’s showed it 150+ We drained 1/3 of pool 3 times in past months. We don’t use tablets but liquid chlorine instead. Pool pump broke and finally replaced. We want to slam but can’t do it as CYA shows 100. Can...

    DIY Vacuum to Waste?

We have had our pool pump out of order for 3 weeks and the pool is a mess. I know vacuuming is needing to be done (we brush and put bleach and muriatic in) but once the motor is replaced we will vacuum. What constitutes heavy gunk? Is algae likely to go through the garden hose ok?

    DIY Vacuum to Waste?

I assume a regular garden hose is insufficient size for the pump output volume.

    DIY Vacuum to Waste?

my pump and filtration system has no option to vacuum to waste. I was thinking to add a 3-way valve to my pump discharge side and use some sort of fitting to attach a 1.5-2”” flat hose, or similar. This would allow me to vacuum to the hose and direct it to my sewer drain. Has anyone done...

    Replacement Motor - Hayward/Century SP3210Z1M

Is the VS adjustable on the pump itself or do I need a separate controller? Any recommended motor that I can use with my existing pump? Or will I have to replace the pump end too? I hate to spend a ton in a place I may not have for more than 2 more years.

We have something like this. Compatible? It wouldn’t know which speed to run in from what I can tell.
